Q & A

Map of Kazakhstan

At a Kazakh Cultural Dinner
A group of us recently went for an evening to a cultural center and, among other things, got to check out this yurta.

Interior of a Yurta
Yurts were designed for transportability, as well as for maintaining warmth in the winter and cool in the summer.

A Kazakh Dinner
For a rather large sum (almost $10), we were treated to a multi-course meal, culture lesson, and entertainment.

Enjoying Some Bish Parmak
Here I'm having some of the Kazakh national dish (horsemeat and noodles) traditional-style.

Traditional Dancers
We were serenaded as we ate by dombra musicians, and entertained with traditional Kazakh dancing.

Graduation
Chris adjusts the mic before giving his critically acclaimed speech at our graduation ceremonies.

Bestowing Certificates
We had the pleasure of giving most of our students the cherished ESI certificate (yes, it really did come from California)!

Post-Graduation Celebrations
After the ceremony, one of our classes took us to a cafe to celebrate with a meal. We're really going to miss our students.
