Kazakhstan is a country in central Asia almost four times the size of Texas. Its longest border is with Russia, on the north. To the east it borders northwestern China. It shares its southern border with the central Asian republics of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. The only major body of water adjacent to Kazakhstan is the Caspian Sea, to the southwest. I'm teaching in Karaganda, a city located in the north. Photo courtesy of CIA World Factbook (http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/maps) |
