There are many many Information Technology jobs available in the job market. The trick is finding the best website to search for your career and at the least expense. Each month we will review several IT sites.

Format:  

SmartCertify Direct was the first website reviewed. The layout of this website is very easy to navigate and to read. It looks like a three column page design. The site contains 5 web pages with various links. Each page lists a table of contents and then you can page down for a more detailed description of that particular section. You are able to select the link for that section at either location; at the table of contents or in the detailed description section.

Computerjobs.com is laid out like a file folder with tabs down the side. The pages are navigated by selecting the folder tab for the particular area requested. This home page looks like a four column design.  There is a lot of information to swallow on the home page; maybe too much. The web designer used some pretty small fonts on the left side of the page. There seems to be multiple fonts used. The site also lists jobs according to regional areas. The format of this page is a little busy for my tastes.

 Usability:

 SmartCertify Direct offers a lot of information on IT positions and certification. It offers search features for both employers and employees.  The site requires registering before you can search for jobs and it is required each time you visit the website to search for new jobs. Once registered you can search high-paying IT jobs and be in a drawing for a new Dell computer. Upon returning to this website I was unable to even register and access the many high-paying jobs.

Computerjobs.com does not require registration prior to searching for jobs. The first page gives a brief synopsis of the job. You have the option to get additional information on the career opening if desired. The “more” link takes you to an extensive posting of the job and all its benefits and requirements along with duties to be performed. You also have the opportunity to post your resume via email directly to the company. The site was very easy to navigate and to find information.

Marketing:

SmartCertify Direct advertises SmartCertify Direct. The company offers various certificate programs. They want the browser to sign up for classes to be certified in Cisco, .ASP,.NET, CIW,MCSE. These are all software programs that companies require certification as to your expert knowledge using these programs. I received a phone call from this website upon registering. I think this company is more interested in signing you up for further certification. The gentlemen told me that without further certification upon my graduation he couldn’t even get me an interview with any of the well known companies. The goal of this website is to enroll you in their certification programs.The site offers a salary survey. This option allows you to compare your current salary to your new chosen career. The site also offers updates and news on current Information Technology.

Computerjobs.com also offers certification on the same programs but it’s not as obvious as SmartCertify Direct. The site also offers resume packages for $99. The About Us page lists their mission statement and many of the companies that post career opportunities with Computerjobs.com. The contact us area of the website offers various departments to contact via email along with a feedback section. The site also offers a salary survey. It has an area for Employers but they must pay for posting jobs.

The goal of this website seems to be aimed at the job seeker. The site boasts minute by minute updates.

Employer Access:

SmartCertify Direct  I did not find any employer access.

Conputerjobs.com has employer access. This site also lists what it costs Employers to post jobs. One job posting costs $200 for 4 weeks and $300 for 8 weeks.
