Front stage and door builds

I had originally planned to mount a pair of 6.5" Soundstream component speakers into the kick panels of the car but decided that for show they would not do so I started to design something different that I had not seen before. I went for two pairs of 6x9 3-way speakers, two in each door and started work on the door pods themselves.

I cut out the shape of the bottom half of the door and also two MDF rings to hold the speakers. When held in place with glue and bracing, I plastered on more of the P38 Body filler and moulded to the desired shape, taking care to ensure both pods were identical.
Once the P38 had hardened the pods were sanded down to give as smooth a finish as possible. With this done I handed them over to my good friend Phil who was at this point giving the car an entire re-spray. Phil proceeded to give the pods another coat of P40 filler and smoothed them down by hand to enable him to spray them the same colour as the car (BMW purple). Once sprayed and dried I fitted them onto the doors of the car from the inside, bolting them onto the original door skin.
