I've been going to USA Gymnastics to check out what's been going on with Nationals for the Men and Women. As I type, the Sr. Women are competing. The Junior Women competed earlier today, and Kristal Uzlec is leading the competition. I was hoping Carly Patterson would be leading, but she had a horrible meet falling on more than one of her events. But the major news right now is of Sean Townsned:

More Sean News:

This is a direct copy from USA Gymnastics:

Philadelphia - 2000 Olympian Sean Townsend (Dallas, Texas) finished on top of the preliminary competition this evening at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships, scoring a 54.175 in the all-around and winning four event medals.

Townsend won three event gold medals and one silver medal. He took first in the floor exercise with a 9.325, the still rings with a 9.350 and parallel bars with a 9.350. He also took a silver on vault with a 9.350.

Winning the pommel horse was Brett McClure (Mill Creek, Wash.) with a score of 9.100. McClure finished second in all-around with a score of 53.125 and took home bronze medals in vault (9.300) and parallel bars (9.200).

Jason Furr (Woodbridge, Pa.) won gold on vault with a 9.400, silver on parallel bars (9.250) and bronze on rings with a score of 9.200.

Taking gold on the high bar was Daniel Diaz-Luong (Harrisburg, Pa.). He also finished fourth in the all-around with a score of 51.825.

My thoughts about Nationals so far:

I think Sean obviously will win Nationals. I thought it would be a competition between him and Steve McCain, but Steve McCain right now is sitting in 10th going into prelims. I know Steve still has a chance to place in the top 4, and hopefully solidify a spot on the Worlds team. Steve had a HUGE break on Pommel Horse when he fell off of it 3 times! This resulted in a score around the 6's which is devasting! I only hope this major break doens't cause Steve to fall in finals. He's a veteran on the team, and he deserves to be on the Worlds team. I was surprised to see Brett McClure do so well, placing in 2nd. He might be the only guy to threaten Sean's pending National title. His pommel horse set is obviously very strong, because he placed the highest on it, and if they need a specialist on the Worlds team, Brett is making a strong bid since his pommel horse work is great. The scores for pommel horse thus far have been in the low 8's. Another surprise is Jason Furr, who I did not know much about until recently. He is also a clubmate of Sean, and he's also doing well placing in the top 4 after prelims. We might end up seeing him on the Worlds team since he too, has a strong vautl. He beat Sean for the gold medal on vaulting.

I'm glad to have seen the results and find out that Todd Thornton, Sean's "brother" is in the top 9 spots. He was in the top 5 earlier in prelims, but he had a few misses on high bar, and floor that dropped him a little bit. Despite that, I think for Todd's first senior meet, he's doing incredibly well. I am still pulling for him to make the World team and prove himself to everyone. Lastly, I'd like to comment on Jason Gatson. I am pulling for this guy to make the World Team, and I'm hoping he can pull into the top four, or at least top six by the end of the meet. He started on high bar, which I think could have posed a mental block for him since that is the event he got injured in last year's Nationals. He fell on a Kovacs, but tried it again and hit it. Right now he stands in 12 position, which is not bad considering he had breaks in his routines, and he hasn't really hit them clean. He fell on his move "the Gatson" (a hop full on pbars). When finals comes around, I would like to see him hit his routines. I know he will move up in the standings for sure. Regardless of his misfortunes at prelims, he's still had an awsome meet as compared to last year. I know he's going to make his comeback.

I think with the absence of Blaine Wilson, and the Hamms, this meet is giving room for guys like Todd, and Jason Furr and Jason Gatson to pull through. Finals is tommorow and I can't wait to see the results. It's ashame we won't be able to actually watch the meet until Sept 2 which I think is ridiculous.

This update is just actually me cleaning up the site more. I want this page to be more organized, so I started cleaning sections up. The main page will go through a physical change sometime soon. My goal is to have the rotating images, but to get rid of the buttons. I think they're not neccessary, and actually cause slower loading time. To provide an easier way to navigate throuh the pages, I want to cut down the loading times some. Today is when Sean will compete at Nationals. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers through this week.

Here are the updates as follows:

Main page - I have 2 New images for the random rotating image. These pictures were rescan of the recent photos I purchased from Dana Utz. If you want good quality gymnastics photos for a decent price, I suggest getting in contact with Dana!^_^

Banners - 4 New Sean Townsend Fandom banners for your linking selection. Please consider using them to help promote this page.

Sean will be starting his competition at Nationals on Vault, along with Todd.

I've been slowly updating things here and there on this page. Actually, I've just been cleaning up sections and things like that. The most apparent update has to be the addition of the Olympic pictures of Sean.

I'm please to say that the Sean Townsendfandom Club is doing great! We have 23 members as I type this and it's growing. I urge everyone here to join in and participate in the discussions we have at the club.

Here are the updates as follows:

Main page - I have 7 rotating Sean Townsend main pictures. If you reload the main page, the image should change. I figured the main page should always be interesting so I did this random image java script for it. Hope you guys like it.

Photo Album - 150 are up now! Check the Olympic Photos and Misc. for new pics

More Sean News:

This isn't a big updated, but I'm trying to log every little change on this page to let people know that this page is updated frequently. Thanks for all the visitors that have come, and also thanks to those who have joined the "Sean Townsend Fandom Club". I'm happy to have more members, so PLEASE join.^_^

4 New Banners - I decided that it would be best to have a variety to fit different peoples themes. I personally like stbanner2.gif

New Club Pic - It's at the front that says "Sean Townsend Fandom Club Member" (c) of pic is of the Parkettes.

It's been awhile since I updated my Sean Townsend page. Since I got out of school, I should have more time to work on this page. Things have been going well for me over all. I actually saw Sean Townsend in person at his gym. That's probably the most exciting thing that's happened all summer for me. If you'd like to read about it and see pictures, simply go here.

I could have updated my page sooner, but I wanted a huge update. I've added many pictures, and added sections like the:

Interact - a place to join my new Sean Townsend Fan Club on yahoo, a message board, and a contact page to write fanmail to Sean as well as a monthly poll.

Information - I redid it with more sections. You will find Sean's competition info and results, his routines, TV Dates, and Event Analysis. The event analysis is a page wherer post fan experiences with Sean, as well as my person thoughts of competitions.

The Fandom/Fanart - has a new oil painting I did of Sean on canvas. I will add more stuff as I get the time.

The Photo Gallery - has plenty of new photos. Right now we're up to 140 Sean Townsend photos!! I also made 8 wallpapers for anyone interested in using it as a desktop wallpaper for 800 X 600 resolution computers.

So I guess you can say I've been busy. I have many more plans for this page. I've decided to make the site's goal to be Sean's official site. I'm not sure if I can pull that off, but it sure would be nice to. I'd like to thank all the visitors that have come by and took the time to give me positive feedback. That means a lot of to me. In anycase, I hope you enjoy the update, and will participate in the site's new interactive features.

By the way, Nationals is coming up. If you guys want to do something for Sean, let me know. I know he's going to wins nationals this year! Good luck Sean!
