Step 6: Uploading to the Web

Where will you post your site? How will you post it? Will it be linked to a larger school site? How will you link it?

One of the ways that you upload your pages to the web is to use an ftp program. The letters "ftp" stand for "file transfer protocol". There are several free ones that you can download from the Internet; however, you may not even need that. If you use one of the free site out there like angelfire or netfirms, you can simply sign up, log in, and use their programs for uploading your files. Sometimes these files need to be uploaded one at a time, but when you are just getting started, that is probably fine. The two that I mentioned, www.angelfire.com and www.netfirms.com are fairly simple to learn and both offer ad-free sites at a nominal cost. Try them out for free first, then pay if you get hooked. Good luck and Happy Creations!! I'd love to hear from you if you use this site for building your web and will gladly look at your pages and offer a free critique.
