A road trip in numbers:

Days on the road: 9
Miles traveled: 3,295
Amount of money spent on gas: Approximately $250
States visited: 7
States visited for the first time: 1
Days on which we encountered a thunderstorm: 8
Hours of NPR listened to: too numerous to count
Number of people who spoke to me at a Wyoming rest stop: 3
Number of people who asked me, "How do you like your Outback?": 2
Number of outhouses used: 2 (one of which masqueraded as a real bathroom)
Extra hours driven because of hotels filled with rodeo-goers: 2
Rodeos attended: 1
Doom-courting trips down whitewater inner-tubing course: 2
Sketchy, nausea-inducing fair rides ridden: 5
Funnel cakes eaten: 1
Number of times I contemplated stealing  a rabbit: 2
Baseball games attended (in body, at least): 1
King beds slept in: 2

The trip was the last exciting thing I did. I spent most of this weekend being unconscionably lazy. In fact, I spent most of Saturday languishing on the floor, the coolest spot I could find in my un-air-conditioned abode, watching TV and wishing with all the energy I could muster that the weather would stop being so fricking hot.
