Knuckles’s monitor changes to show Eggman and I went to a lot of effort to show different angles and different things on each of the different screens on Knuckles’s monitor station. He then begins t record his hologram and we switch to South Island, where Sonic and Tails run away from Amy in my more stable, almost generic Emerald Hill background seen in the Remastered BFTCE comic.

Couldn’t remember or duplicate the Knuckles hologram from before, which was a shame, so I spliced together this new visage of him and gave him altered text so you’d know it was a recording. Sonic and Tails race to the Tornado which is now sitting on a runway in an all-new edited background I made to try and emulate Tails’s workshop from Sonic Adventure. I really wanted to make it look like the Tornado is parked properly so I put in an angular piece of metal to prop it up better.

That piece of metal also serves to give the Tornado a jump-start and rocket it off the runway and into the air. I decided to have them fly over the sea-line instead of my clichéd through-the-air-to-get-there background, which looks a lot better I think, and we get a slightly altered story from Tails and him and Ray. I wanted to show that Tails was forced to leave but try to justify him leaving behind his best friend a bit better. It’s not easy to see but in the semi-flashback parts spliced into that scene, Tails and Ray are wearing slightly altered clothing from their youth. Their arrival at Westside Island looks a lot better (if still a little bland) thanks to those pictures from the ending of Sonic Advance I had to edit around myself, which took a while.

Here we have an all-new semi-robotic background for Westside Island, where they land and are instantly attacked by the EggRobo horde, led by the General Robot. During the initial melee, Amy is stunned and then captured but, it’s intentionally difficult to see, if you notice Amy only moves fast (with the line-blur effect) when everyone else is distracted, so she has potential and skill but she doesn’t show it often because she’s not as confidant in those abilities yet. Anyway, as before, she’s captured and taken onto a Prison Air Ship. This time, to avoid a giant, stupidly resized version of the ship (though I did like that effect) we simply have a ramp that Sonic runs up.
