One month had past, and Tori had adjusted to living in Canada pretty well. She'd be lying if she said Ryan didn't have a part in it. Being the incredibly sweet person he is, he showed her around the city and introduced her to his friends. Next to Lisa, Tori was his best friend. Both Ryan and Tori wanted more than friendship, yet since their first kiss in the hallway nothing else had developed. They both knew the feelings were there and for some strange reason they had never acted upon it. Maybe it was the fear that they could have been wrong about it. Or maybe. . .they just never had the chance to pick up where they left off.
"What are you doing tonight?" asked Ryan. He had called Tori after school in hopes of getting a date.
"I don't know. I don't have much homeowrk, there aren't any parties, no concerts. . ." Tori rattled off.
"Let's go out, you and me. We'll go out to the park or the movies or something," he said.
"Ry, I want to, but at the same time I kinda just want to stay here and lay low."
"Well we don't have to go out. You can come over here and watch a movie or whatever, you'd still be laying now, just over here with me."
"You are so persistant," she replied. "You win Ry. I'll be over in a few minutes."
"Great. It's gonna be wicked."
"I'm sure. I'll see you in a few," she said before hanging up.
"Ryan you are by far the best friend I've had in a long time," said Tori. She was lying face down on the ground while Ryan was giving her a back massage. They were in the middle of watching "There's Something About Mary", when Tori's back began to cramp up. Ryan immediatly offered to give her a massage. "I mean, next to my neighbor, you were the first person to accept me into your life."
"Tori, you were in my life way before I even met you," he said. Tori sighed in response.
"I still can't get over how freaky that is. The odds are like, one in a billion."
"Yeah. So why haven't we done anything about it? I mean, we're both attracted to each other, correct?"
Tori sat up and faced Ryan, staring into those deep brown eyes of his. "Of course I'm attracted to you. You're one of the sweetest guys I've ever known, you're smart, funny, talented."
"So why is it that we're not together?"
"I don't know Ryan. I really don'tknow," she said. "Maybe you just never asked me." Ryan stopped and thought for a moment.
"Tori will you go out with me? Be my girlfriend?"
"What do you think my answer is?" she asked slyly.
"Well I'm hoping it's a good one," he replied. Tori laughed and gently kissed him, allowing him to deepen it.
"Yes I will."
