"Ain't no party, like a Backstreet Party, cause a Backstreet Party... has Babes!" AJ McLean sang, as he stepped into the empire ballroom of the swanky Terra Losa hotel, where the guys were celebrating the release of their new single, Show me the meaning.
AJ began dancing, with strange gyrations and jumps, moving himself through the hall. He acquired much attention with his Sherlock Holmes inspired hat, dress pants, four sizes too big, and a sequined shirt, completely unbuttoned.
"There ain't no party like a Backstreet Party." he sang on, as he saw his best friend Howie Dorough.
Howie, like most the the men in the room, wore a casual suit, and he looked Aj over a few times. Then, all of a sudden, Howie began to laugh. He laughed and laughed, almost bursting into tears.
AJ, surprisingly, quite offended, stormed off, a cloud falling over his sunny good mood.
AJ was outside, when he pulled out a long Players Light cigarette.
"Damn," he muttered to himself, "Light" He lit up, anyhow, and looked around. To his left, he saw a girl, 'Beautiful,' he thought to himself, 'just gorgeous.'
She had curly brown hair, a waitress uniform on, and a cigarette dangling from her lips, unlit.
"Hey, let me get that." AJ sat down beside her. "AJ Mclean, pleased to meet you."
"Jenna," she replied with a small smile, "AJ McLean.. well.. a Backstreet Boy.."
"Yeah," he answered, "Sure.."
"Hey, what's wrong?" she asked, with a shy smile.
"Oh, it's nothing," he replied, "Absolutely nothing."
"Aww, c'mon, tell me!"
"Nothin'" He replied, although he felt a connection to the girl, and really did want to spill his feelings to her.
"Well," she said, dropping the topic, "Mr. McLean, I'm a big fan of yours, but may I ask where Nick is?"
His smile fell, "Oh.. so you like him, huh?" he asked, "Doesn't everyone? Maybe I'm just too deranged nowadays.. everyone thinks I'm just a laugh.."
"Actually," Jenna said, cutting him off, "I like you best, Nick is my best friend Emmy's. But.. um.. 'who' thinks that you are a joke?"
"Eveyone.." he muttered, then speaking loudly, anger in his voice, especially Kevin and Howie, and he's supposed to be my best friend, too! Dang, it makes me so mad.." He looked so incredibly downcast and hurt, that Jenna turned to him to give him a hug, but being in their sitting position, she just gave him a simple kiss on the cheek.
He seemed so grateful, and smiled warmly at her, when it clicked, "Dang, I have a girlfriend.." he told her, looking at his feet.
"Hey, no prob," she replied, with a smile, "you looked sad, and it was friendish... well.. since I'm obviously completely out of luck, does Nick have anyone? My best friend.. head over heels.."
"Yeah," He cut her off, "Yeah, and besides her, Nick has another.. girl.. kinda you know, lined up."
"Darn.. well I really would like to stay, but I better get going, work.." she said, "I need the money, and all."
Jenna stood up, "It was nice meeting you, Mr. McLean."
AJ smiled, "Well.. Ms..."
"Carr..."
"Ms. Carr, if you have another break, come into the grand ballroom, would you? I think I'll go back... "
"It's invitation only, and I'm only a lowly waitress."she said wiith a cocky grin.
"You'll get in." He told her, smiling back at her, gratefully, as he stood up to hug her before she left.
"Bri, man, you should'a seen it, what he was wearing, what he was 'doing'!" cried Howie, giggling strangely, imitating AJ "Le'z have a paaarrrdy!" he sqeekingly sang, as all eyes turned at him.
Kevin began to laugh, because just then, AJ walked up, his shirt still unbuttoned, sleeves, still rolled up to his shoulders. Nick obviously did not seem to get the joke, and only turned to AJ and commente with, "Phat, man, phat!" he high fived AJ, and they walked off towards the group of women, containing their girlfriends, Mandy and Amanda.
"Why don't you all just lay off on him... cause.. Averi!" Brian ran to her, "Let me take your jacket! Oh man, you look terrific!" He babbled on, "I love the way you look in that dress.. and.." He was silenced by the iciness of Averi's glare, as she shouted, "Back off!"
She strutted towards kevin, leaving Brian with Lara.
"Hey Rok," she smiled, trying to take his mind off her sister, "What's up?"
Brian shrugged.
"Hey, it's all right.." Lara put her hand on his shoulder, "Don't take it to heart."
"She hates me," he replied, "She really hates me.. lots..."
"Well," Lara started, "I don't!"
"Thanks," he said, without paying attention, "Hey.. how about dancing Lisa?"
"Lara..."
"Yeah.." he muttered, as he eyed Averi grinding with Howie, "Well.. want to dance?"
Go..
