K'ven stood, hands on hips, and glared at Kylia. "Stop laughing, you halfwit! I'm serious, Kylia!" She was desperately laughing, her face a bright red, and pounding on the wall.
"Oh my, weyrmates? K'ven... ha ha... you're the last person... ha ha ha... I'd ever expect... ha!... to have a WEYRMATE!" She wiped a tear from her eye, restraining herself. "No offense, K'ven, but really..."
He blew hair out of his eyes. "I don't see what's so funny. You have a weyrmate, too, you know."
Kylia stood, crossing her arms. "So? It's just... well, you and Elisabeth?" She grinned playfully. "Opposites attract, hm?"
He made a face. "Opposites? Hardly. We're both disorganized, rather ditzy, ahem, charming, and, in sum, untidy."
"Who's untidy?" Elisabeth walked near them, her Jr. Weyrwoman badge gleaming in the sunlight.
"You and K'ven." Kylia ducked before K'ven could smack her.
"Oh?" The brown-haired girl raised an eyebrow, giving her weyrmate an intimidating look. K'ven flinched.
"Err... weeeeeell..." He drew the word out like an errant child trying to explain, then paused. "Bye." He whirled around and ran down the hall, skidding past corners, as Elisabeth and Kylia laughed...
Tirzath tilted his head. Why are you running?
K'ven leaned against the wall, panting. "So Elisabeth doesn't kill me."
Oh. A pause. Why would she kill you? You are very important. To both of us, he added mournfully.
"Oh, Tirzzy, it was an expression. Nah, I just said she was, er, disorganized." He grinned, the Weyrleader badge catching the light.
"And now that I've gotten myself into enough trouble, I think I'll go ahead and take a nap..." Tirzath nodded approval, settled down, and fell asleep himself. K'ven grinned, and sighed, lying down. He stared at the ceiling for a bit before drifting off slowly into sleep...
