Functions of the Embassy
Of the Uses:
The basic functions of the embassy is to provide a diplomatic centre between the Companions and the people of the UK. This is often done in Mer'ac's audience room, however there are many more rooms provided for more private matters.
The Embassy is not only the centre for Companion activities, it is also a communication centre for most of the people in the world. Rooms created for communication purposes are spread through out the Embassy, providing places of talk. There is also a small library archive located in the main computer that can be activated from any number of terminals. Offices for both Companions and the Human staff are also in abundance. As well as private quarters for the Companions.
Of the Biology:
Unlike Human Embassies, that are constructed from various building materials. Taelon buildings are constructed of an organic life form called bio slurry. In effect, we do not build our constructs, we 'grow' them. Inside, it is very similar to an organic life form with a central brain (computer) and various other organs.
Strewn through out the embassy, there are wires that are the equivalent of veins in the Human and Taelon bodies. These veins are energy conduits that transfer energy to and from the central power matrix, located in the heart of the building. In effect this power matrix is a heart, pumping life energy to the various parts of the building.
Covering the outside of the building is a substance you have dubbed 'virtual glass'. This virtual glass is similar to skin, for it protects the embassy from damage caused by many number of things. The Embassy being so tall, it is often struck by lightning and so the Embassy itself evolved shielding at the upper most part to protect itself from any feedback.
At a high level is a docking port for shuttles. Because shuttles are also life forms, they require an energy recharge to survive. The Embassy provides shuttles energy while docked. Although Shuttles have their own internal power supply, a recharge is required every so often.
