PREVIOUSLY, ON BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER...
Xander grew with the show, it started off that he was a High School loser but as the show
progress he became a hero type figure. He fell for Buffy from the start but sadly it was only a
one way love and she rejected him. Xander relationship with Cordelia became a lot more
physical when they suddenly found that they were really using their hate relationship to
hide their true feelings. As with most relationships in Sunnydale, they eventually split up when
Cordelia found Xander kissing Willow. Xander soon began to feel like the fifth wheel of the
Scooby Gang which he got the name "The Zeppo." He slept with Faith and felt that the two had a
connection, they didnt however and when they next met she tried to kill him, only to be rescued
by Angel of whom he hates because of his relationship with Buffy. As he became the sad pathetic
High School loser again he took Anya to the Prom. There relationship grew and the two became
seriously into one another. The only one who did not go to college his relationship with Anya
and his friends is what has been keeping Xander together through some of the most challenging
years of his life.
With his relationship with Anya going to new levels he moved out of his parents basement and
into a very nice apartment. Both he and Anya grew closer and when Riley left Buffy he felt that
he had to tell Anya that he loved her more than anything in the world. After feeling like a
failure in the team a very powerful speech by Buffy to the Watchers Council brought him back
into the fold by saying he was one of the most important cogs in the machine that was the
Scooby gang. Before they went into battle with Glory, Xander proposed to Anya who accepted.
However the celebration was short lived as he watched one of his best friends die right
before him.
