THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD
Glory's minions are rushing to get her things together as they need to get out. The minions
bicker between herself but Glory does not kill them.
Buffy has been catatonic for over half an hour now, but despite Willow's best attempts she just
wont wake up.
OPENING CREDITS
Spike says they need Buffy and tries to wake her up, he even punches her which causes Xander to
hit him back. Willow separates them and gives out orders to everyone. Spike asks what happens if
they run into Ben? The others haven't got a clue what Spike is going on about. Spike figures out
that Glory must have cast a spell so they forget Glory's transformation. The moment Spike tells
them all that Ben is Glory they all forget again.
Glory's victims are building something. While Glory is having a dress made ready to return home.
A minion tries to anoint Dawn but Glory becomes protective of her and tells him to get out. This
confuses her and Dawn tells her that she is starting to feel guilt, Glory sees that the bond
separating herself and Ben is fading.
Back at Xander's place, Willow sets up candles then using her wicca skills she goes into Buffy's
mind.
Willow goes into a moment from Buffy's past, to the day Joyce brought Dawn home from the
hospital. Buffy doesn't like Dawn at first as she feels that Hank and Joyce will forget about
her. They tell her that this is not true, and Buffy holds Dawn, knowing she is the Big Sister
and the one to look after her. The scene changes to Buffy putting a book away at the Magic Box.
It changes yet again to the campfire where Buffy met the first Slayer.
At the Hospital Spike tells Xander and Giles that he knows a guy called Doc who can help them.
Spike and Xander go to check it out.
Glory is becoming angry because she starts to remember Bens thoughts. The spell she cast so
everyone forgets Ben is Glory fades and everyone remembers. She takes her anger out on Dawn and
tries to kill her, but the minions stop her by saying that all she has worked for will be for
nothing if she kills Dawn. She stops and then turns into Ben.
Back in Buffy's dream the first Slayer tells Buffy "Death is your gift." The scene changes yet
again to Buffy putting the book away. It changes to Buffy going into Dawn's room, there on the
floor is Joyce's Headstone. Willow tells Buffy that she is sorry but Buffy tells her don't be
Death is her gift. She walks over to Dawn who is on her bed and puts a pillow over her face
killing her.
Dawn tells Ben that they need to escape now. They both escape but as they walk through the
streets of Sunnydale, Ben turns back into Glory and then quickly back into Ben. Glory tells
Ben that when she uses "The Key" he wont be killed, he will be made immortal. Believing Glory,
Ben takes Dawn back to the minions.
Spike and Xander go to Doc. When they ask him about Glory he attacks them, Xander grabs a
sword and drives it through Doc. Spike grabs what they came for and they leave. As the door
shuts behind them Doc's eyes open.
Willow sees they young Buffy yet again and figures out that she is caught in some sort of loop,
the scene yet again changes to Buffy putting away the book. Willow asks Buffy what happened at
this point? Its something small but very important. Buffy tells her that she was just putting
a book away for Giles when it hit her, Glory was going to win and when she thought that she
wanted it to be over now. Willow tells Buffy that all she is feeling is guilt, she has carried
the Weight of the World since High School and it has finally surfaced. Buffy hasn't killed
Dawn yet but every second she spends in here is a one more second that they don't have saving
Dawn. With this both of them wake up. Buffy begins to cry and Willow goes over and hugs her.
Buffy and Willow meet the gang at the Magic Box. Giles has had time to read what Spike got for
them. He tells them all that Glory plans to open the gates by draining Dawn of her blood, this
will open all the dimensional walls and chaos will reign on Earth. He goes onto and says that
he has read theses texts over and over and there is only one way to stop these gates once
they are open, he turns to Buffy and tells her the only way to stop it, is to kill Dawn...
If I am at all honest, I must admit I wasnt expecting anything great from this episode but it
totally blew me away. Its a calm before the storm episode and getting us all in the mood for the
next episode which is "The Gift", the 100th and Seaon Finale of Buffy.
Whats so good about this is there are two little subplots ine the middle of the story about
Buffy's Catatonia. Both equally important to the events which are about to come up. So far this
four part story has been out of this world and the ending have been brilliant, this one is the
best so far, it puts us all on the edge of our seats then the credits come up and has us cursing
and begging for more. Well only one week left now and I am sure "The Gift" will not disappoint.
out of 5!
