FOREVER
Buffy is looking for a casket for Joyce. Dawn and Giles are also there. Buffy picks one but Dawn
starts to question if Joyce would like it.
DAWN: "She's the one who has gotta be in it forever."
OPENING CREDITS
The whole gang look at the arrangements for the funeral and the fact that Joyce did not want a
wake. Buffy tells them that she still cant get in touch with Hank (Her Father.) As Willow and
Xander leave they bump into Spike. Xander sees Spike has brought flowers and tells him to leave
now as he wont allow him to score points with Buffy. Spike leaves and throws the flowers to the
floor. Willow picks them up and notices Spike was going to leave them on the doorstep, there was
no card.
The funeral takes place the very next day. After the service everyone but Buffy leaves. She
stands over the grave until nightfall when a voice comes from behind her. "Sorry I couldnt come
sooner." She holds his hand, it is of course Angel.
Dawn stays with Willow and Tara that night. She tells the two witches that she wants to do a
spell to bring Joyce back. Meanwhile Xander and Anya finish up a rather intense sex session.
Anya says it was better because of Joyce and now she realises that life and death are the same
thing and although she doesnt want to right now she is looking forward to children with Xander.
Tara and Willow tell Dawn that it is possible to bring back Joyce but that doesn't mean that
it is right and Tara says she will have no part in it.
Buffy and Angel talk. She tells him that in real life it was Joyce that was the strong one.
Buffy still thinks that if she had got home earlier Joyce might still be alive. Angel tells her
that she could have done nothing, he tells her that she is a strong person. He also tells her
that he will stay in town as long as Buffy needs him. she replies "How's Forever?" The two begin
to kiss, Buffy then pulls away and just hugs him as he is about to leave.
Ben bumps into one of Glorys minnons and he accidently tells him that "The Key" is an innocent.
To stop him from telling Glory, Ben stabs him. However Jinx does make it back to Glory and tells
her about the information he has learned.
Dawn is at the Magic Box. When Giles and Anya are busy, Dawn gets a book about bringing back the
dead. Later that night she tries the spell over Joyce's grave. Spike comes across her. He tells
her that he is willing to help bring Joyce back. He takes Dawn to a man called Doc, he tells
Dawn that she needs the egg of the Gorra Demon. He also tells Dawn that the only way to stop the
spell is to destory a photo of Joyce that she needs to use. Spike and Dawn go to get the egg and
at the second attempt they get it.
Dawn goes home and begins to perform the spell. Tara notices that a book has gone and that Dawn
must have taken it. Tara phones Buffy to tell her what Dawn is about to do. Buffy gets there too
late and Dawn has finished the spell. Dawn tells Buffy that she needs Joyce, she has no-one else
in the world. She thinks that Buffy doesnt care that Joyce is dead. Buffy slaps her and then
explains that she needs to keep herself busy because if she stops reality kicks in and she
breaksdown. There is a knock on the door, Buffy gets a smile and runs for the door, Dawn
realises that Buffy does care and that what she has done is both stupid and selfish, and so
before Buffy opens the door, she rips up the photo.
If people were expecting a much lighter episode than "The Body", then after watching this they
would be very much mistaken. Buffy tends to do this at certain times in a season and will do back
to back shocking episodes before getting in some light relief. This is a very good episode and
yet again solid performances from the whole cast. The chemisty between Buffy and Dawn is amazing
now and you can actually see that the two are sisters. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Michelle
Trachtenberg have been amazing this season and when that horrible day comes when Buffy has to
finish then I am sure these two will have fantastic futures.
