CRUSH
The whole gang is partying at the new Bronze. Buffy is sitting alone so Spike goes over to her.
He isn't wearing his normal gear and starts to make chit chat with Buffy. She turns on him and
he tells her to cut him some slack as he had helped to fight Glory.
Willow is still getting headaches from doing the very powerful spell on Glory. Buffy see's Ben
and goes over to him and thanks him for keeping an eye on Dawn.
As a train pulls into Sunnydale, no one gets off. The Insepctor goes to look, only to find half
a dozen dead bodies. As he tries to escape something pulls him back.
OPENING CREDITS
Buffy returns home to Joyce, Dawn and Giles. She talks to Giles and he tells her not to take it
easy on Dawn as they must make her feel like nothing has changed. With that in mind Buffy yells
at Dawn about taking her blue sweater.
Of course Spike has it. Harmony suggest's that they play a game and Spike likes that idea.
Harmony dresses up as Buffy and tries to attack Spike.
At U.C.S.D the gang discuss "The Hunchback of Notre Dame." Buffy see's a newspaper article about
the train deaths.
At Spike's crypt Dawn turns up. She tells him that he feels safe around him and that unlike the
others he actually talks to her like she is a real person. Buffy gets home, but Joyce send her
back out to look for Dawn who has not returned home from school yet. Spike is telling Dawn a
story from his past but when Buffy comes in he changes the ending to make it seem like he is a
good guy.
As Buffy tells Dawn off for going to hang out with Spike, she realises that Dawn has a crush on
him. As Buffy warns her off she tells Buffy it doesnt matter anyway, Spike loves Buffy.
Buffy and Xander check out the train attack. Buffy tells Xander what Dawn told her. Xander
laughs as this is very funny to him. Xander explains that Spikes love isnt real. As they leave
the train cart the camera pans up to show someone holding an old Edwardian style doll.
As Buffy returns home, Joyce and Dawn are joking around with Spike. He has come over to give
Buffy information on the train deaths, and he will show it to her.
As the two sit in Spike's car together, Buffy feels very uncomfortable. The two Vamps arrive and
Spike and Buffy go in after them. Buffy sees that these Vamps have already nested and so could
not have killed the people on the train. As the two go to leave Spike opens the door for her.
She demands to know what is going on. She asks is this a date? As he tries to squirm his way out
of it Buffy see it's true and feels sick. Spike tells her that it is not uncommon, they both
work together and there is heat and desire between them. He says "i love.." but she cuts him off
and leaves.
Spike returns to his Crypt where Drusilla is waiting. She tells him that she wants him back so
they can re-unite the Fang Gang. She knows that Spike has a chip in his head and she will help
him kill again. Drusilla tells him that the pain is all in his head. Harmony comes in and Spike
throws her back out and tells her he's with Dru again now.
Joyce, Buffy and Willow talk about Spike, they all know how dangerous he can be. Buffy isn't
sure if she made it clear to Spike that it could never happen.
Drusilla and Spike go to the Bronze and spot a young couple. They go to them. Drusilla sanps
the females neck and hands her to Spike. He takes a look and then they both drink.
Buffy goes to Spike's crypt but no-one is there, she see's a trapdoor and goes down it.
Once there she finds Spike's "Buffy" shrine. As she makes a run for it she bumps into
Spike and Dru. Drusilla uses a cattle prod on Buffy to knock her out, Spike then takes the
cattle-prod and uses it on Dru.
When the two come around, Spike tells Buffy that that tp prove how much he loves her,
he will stake Dru. Buffy still doesn't care so Spike tells her either she admit she has feelings
for him or he will untie Dru and let her kill Buffy. Buffy remains calm and tells Spike the only
chance he ever had with her was when she was knocked out.
As Spike goes mental, Harmony fires an arrow at him. While Spike and Harmony fight Dru gets
loose and attacks Buffy. Spike pushes Dru away and unties Buffy, with this both Drusilla and
Harmony leave.
Buffy hits Spike and knocks him for six. As she returns hoimw he catches up with her. He
says that she cant run away from this. As he goes to follow her into her house a force pushes
him back, as he is not welcome anymore since Willow did a spell on the Summers home...
This is the first episode that the Season has been leading up to. Although it is an good episode
they could have made it so much better. For once I felt sorry for Spike as Buffy cruel rejection
of him is heartbreaking. Its clear that these two will never get together on the show as in this
episode alone you can see the hate Buffy has for Spike. What spoiled the episode was Harmony,
now I am a Harmony fan but it didn't feel right having here in this emotional episode. Dru was
of course excellent as always and the season looks yet again to be picking up after the half
way point. With "The Body" & "Forever" to air in the next three weeks we have got some very
good Buffy TV coming up!
out of 5!
