PREVIOUSLY, ON BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER...
To look at her you would not guess it but Anya is over 1120 years old. She worked as a Vengeance
Demon for D'Hoffryn for a 1000 years before having her amulet smashed by Giles from another
dimension. Now she is stuck on earth as a mortal living her life how she once left it. A lot has
changed in a 1000 years though and Anya is not used to the way people now act. Trying to get use
to Normal life she asks Xander to the Prom, on which she bores him of her old tales of Vengence.
However when she hears off Xander that there is going to be an upcoming Ascension she panics and
leaves Sunnydale, she is the only person to ever survive an Ascension and she knows what is
going to happen and leaves. She cannot get Xander to come with her however.
When Sunnydale does not get destroyed by the Mayor she returns, she has come back for Xander.
Even though she cant explain it she has fallen in love with him. A reluctant Xander gets drawn
into a relationship with Anya, but they soon discover that they are the perfect couple, each
meeting the others needs. Unlike other relationships the foundations for this one is very much
secure.
Anya's relationship continues to grow and day by day she becomes that bit more human. She starts
to get into a routine and gets a job working for Giles at the "Magic Box." When she gets her
wrist broken it really drills the message home to her that she is now human and one day she
will die. When Joyce dies she does not know how to deal with it as this is the only person
close to her that has died. She and Xander get through it though and says yes to Xander when he
ask's her to marry him.
