The people of Xanther believe that the five elemental angels watch over them and protect them. It's not a religion as such, just the widely held belief that every Xanthan is looked after by at least one of these angels. Each of the elemental angels have a different personality and a corresponding element:

Terra- The elemental angel for earth, she is a calm and sensible angel. She is responsible for the land and farmers and people with earth magic look to her.
Aquial- The elemental angel for water, she is a bit of a rebel but is generally calm. She is responsible for the sea, rivers and lakes. Fishermen and people with water magic look to her.
Lorrelii- The elemental angel for air, she is the shyest of the angels and is very thoughtful. She is responsible for the sky and the weather so people with air magic and dragonknights as a whole look to her.
Pyrrha- The elemental angel for fire, she has a quick temper but is, on the whole, a very fair angel. People with fire magic look to her.
Angelique- The elemental angel for the spirit, she the most caring of the angels and watches over all childeren; protecting them from harm. She is responsible for all animals and people so healers and medics as well as people with spirit magic look to her.
