One day Megatron called all his vehicons together for a rally and invited the Maximals to come too.“My fellow Cybertronians,” Megatron said, “I’ve decided to put an end to this silly war. Tomorrow I will go to Cybertropolis and find the planetary intercom so I can declare myself supreme ruler of Cyebrtron.”
The vehicon generals and their drones applauded.
“Then I will restore peace and order to the galaxy,” Megatron continued. “I will establish a government consisting of the legislative, the judicial, and the –“
“Hold on a click,” Rattrap yelled. “We don’t want you as our king!”
“We’ll never serve you as our ruler!” Optimus shouted, fists in the air.
Cheetor and Nightscream pinched their noses and waved their thumbs down. “Boo!”
Silverbolt, Blackarachnia, and Botanica chanted, “Down with Megatron! Down with Megatron!”
Megatron sighed. “Don’t make this complicated. I didn’t come here to ask your opinions. I’m going to Cybertropolis and when I come back as Cybertron’s king, we’ll discuss territory. Okay?”
“Slag you!” the Maximals sneered.
Despite the few protests, Megatron packed up for his trip to Cybertropolis. “Diagnostic Drone!”
“Yes sir?”
“Don’t forget to pack my toothbrush. And have you found my rubber ducky yet?”
“No sir.”
“Well keep looking! I’ve been looking for that since the Beast Wars.”
“Yes sir.”
Megatron growled. “Stop with this ‘sir’ business. From now on, I am ‘Supreme High Ruler of Each and Every Cybertronian Home’.”
“S.C.R.E.E.C.H.?”
“What? Oh, get Obsidian, Stryka, and Thrust over here. I have to give them some instructions.”
The generals were led in the room.
“Generals, before I go,” he said, “I’m giving you an energon cube each. I want you to put the energon to good use while I’m gone.”
“Sure, boss!” the three smiled.
“Don’t disappoint me,” Megatron said. “And if you need me, the number is on the fridge.”
So Megatron left and took Diagnostic Drone with him. A stellar cycle passed and Megatron returned. He called his generals together.
“Now that I have returned, and I am king, tell me about what you’ve done with my energon cubes.”
Obsidian stepped forward. “Well, your highness, I used the cube to power my drone factory. I made a thousand Helidrones that are patrolling the streets now, and I had enough drones to make an energon power plant for the city. We’ve made ten giant cubes so far. So I’m giving you the cube you gave me plus ten more I earned.”
“Well done!” Megatron said, clapping his hands. “For your resourcefulness, I shall make you mayor of ten Cybertron cities!”
“Thank you, my leader!”
Next, Stryka moved forward. “Your kingness, sir? I used my cube to power a satellite probe. I sent it into orbit, and it found a small energon source on Cyberton’s moon. I retrieved it and now I can give you back the energon, plus an additional five cubes.”
“Splendid!” Megatron smiled. “You deserve a reward as well. I shall make you mayor of five cities!”
“I’m grateful, my king!”
Lastly, Thrust rolled before Megatron. “Boss? I knew how you are. You’re greedy. You take everything that you can get. I knew you’d just want the energon cube back, so I kept it in my locker at the Citatdel. So here’s your cube back.”
Megatron stood up so fast that his throne fell over. “What? I’m greedy, huh? If you thought this, then why didn’t you put the energon with a power plant and let it grow? You’re such a lazy bum!”
He turned to Diagnostic Drone. “D.D! Take Thrust’s energon and give it to Obsidian!”
“But sir,” DD said, “Obsidian already has ten cubes!”
“They both had a chance!” Megatron roared. “Listen, a transformer who has energon will get more, but the transformer who has none will lose what little he has.”
“But, but boss!” Thrust whined.
“That’s Supreme Ruler Boss!” Megatron snapped. He turned to Diagnostic Drone again. “Are those Maximals still picketing outside the Citadel?”
“Yes, your highness,” he said. “They’ve been yelling ‘Megatron resign!’ all day.”
“Well bring them here and let me see their sparks extracted!”
In the story, Thrust didn’t use what Megatron gave him. He wasted the opportunity he had. Obsidian used what little he had and made it into something big and was rewarded for it. In the same way, God has given everyone different talents and gifts. You might think, “Life is short. Why should I invest in my talents if I’m going to die anyway and it will be all for nothing?” But God wants us to use His gifts wisely for Him.
