Things You Learn In this episode
The episode opens at a basketball court where Logan and other wheelchair-bound
players are playing
basketball. Max watches the game from the sideline. After Logan shoots
a hoop and his team wins Max
strolls over. Max is surprised to learn they weren't playing for money
but for enjoyment. They discuss going
to a wedding together for Logan's cousin Bennett. Logan seems unsure if
he wants to go or not and
frustrates Max by constantly changing his mind. Finally he decides to go,
Max agrees to go with him, and
after Logan informs Max that the wedding will be a very formal affair,
they part.
Searching for a nice dress for the formal wedding, Max, Original Cindy
and Kendra enter an upscale
clothing store. They a see promising dress and learn from the saleswoman
that it costs six thousand dollars.
Max promptly requests that the saleswoman put the dress on hold and she'll
come back for it later. Max,
Cindy and Kendra exit the store.
Later that night at the same upscale clothing store the Saleswoman and
Security Guard are ready to close
shop. When the Security Guard exits and the Saleswoman goes elsewhere in
the store, Max silently enters
the shop and climbs down a rope. She quickly slips the dress she spied
earlier off of the mannequin.and
makes her escape just before the Saleswoman returns to the bare mannequin.
The Saleswoman stares in
puzzlement.
Meanwhile, Runion, an art thief/fencer, is on the phone talking to Mr.
DuVallier (an art thief client). Runion
promises DuVallier that DuVallier's painting will be sent to DuVallier
soon by courier. As he talks there is a
knock at the door. Runion hangs up the phone, goes to the door and gives
a tube-package containing the
painting to Jam Pony courier Sketchy. He makes Sketchy promise he won't
let the tube-package out of his
sight Later, back at Jam Pony, Sketchy and another courier are shown playing
sword fight with two
tube-packages, one of which is the one Sketchy received from Runion. Normal,
in disgust, breaks up the
rough-housing, grabs the two tube-packages, and calls everyone at Jam Pony
"idiots". When Original Cindy
and Max demand that Normal apologize he insults everyone further.
Switching scenes to DuVallier's lair DuVallier and his body guards hold
Runion's partner who is in great
distress. DuVallier is impatient for delivery of the package. Soon there
is a knock at the door and the
bodyguard opens it to find Sketchy standing there holding a tube-package.
The bodyguard grabs the
tube-package, slams the door in Sketchy's face and returns to the office
where DuVallier and Runion's
partner wait. DuVallier opens the tube and discovers not the Rockwell painting
he had been expecting but
rather a set of blueprints. DuVallier is livid.
Cutting back to Jam Pony, Logan enters wearing a tuxedo and wheels up to
Normal at the front desk. As
Logan asks for Max they turn to see Max make a striking entrance in the
dress she "acquired" from the
upscale store. Logan, and even Normal, are mesmerized at how beautiful
Max looks. After exchanging
compliments, Max and Logan head off to the wedding in Logan's car. While
driving to Bennett's wedding
Logan hands Max his speech so that she may help him go over his lines.
Logan is extremely nervous about
giving a speech in front of his judgmental family. Max doesn't understand
his concern and Logan explains
that he is seen as the black sheep of the family. Max questions Logan about
the meaning of marriage and
doesn't quite understand what the big deal is. Ever the entrepreneur, Max
marvels over the wedding ring
Bennett has entrusted to Logan. She figures she could fence it for $10,000
easy.
Shifting over to Jam Pony where DuVallier's bodyguards and Runion's partner
enter to find out what
happened to the tube-package, they encounter Normal just closing up. They
question Normal about the
package but Normal has no idea where it is. When Normal hands them a complaint
form to be filled out
they grab him, stuff the complaint form in Normal's mouth, trash the place,
and take Normal hostage.
Meanwhile the wedding has started. Bennett, the minister, Logan, et cetera,
are at the front and Max is
seated with the other guests. A woman beside Max is sits weeping and when
Max asks the woman why she
is crying, the woman says that she is happy for the couple. Max can't figure
her out. As Bennett and
Marianne (his bride) begin to exchange their vows Max realizes that they
appear sincere and happy and
she begins to get a bit weepy too. The woman beside Max hands her a tissue.
After the wedding ceremony, while people are enjoying beverages and small
talk, Max and Logan are
approached by Logan's uncle Jonas & aunt Margot. Max learns from Logan
that his uncle is a chip
manufacturer for the hover drones and therefore could be considered an
enemy. When asked her last name
Max tells Jonas and Margot that it is "Guevara". They are not impressed.
Logan tells that Max is of the
"Greenwich Guevaras". This time it is Max's turn to be unimpressed.
The scene switches over to an exterior bar where Sketchy and Cindy are
enjoying a couple of beers and
discussing the creature that is Normal. Soon Herbal enters, informs Cindy
that Normal is asking to speak to
her, and passes over the phone. Cindy learns from Normal the is being held
hostage by DuVallier and his
crew at their lair and has a gun pointed at his head. The criminals will
kill Normal unless Cindy can find a
way to find the missing tube-package containing the Rockwell painting.
Normal asks Cindy to help him for
which she'll get paid $20. Cindy says no dice. She will only help if Normal
apologizes to the entire Jam
Pony crew for calling them idiots. Normal agrees to her terms.
Back at the wedding Logan and Max are still cornered by uncle Jonas and
aunt Margot. Uncle Jonas
belittles Logan for his choice of job and for "feeding at the family trough"
instead of getting a real job.
Logan seems unwilling to stand up to Jonas and Max is perplexed by Logan's
behavior. When Jonas turns
to Max and jokes that she probably thinks he is talking out of his hat,
Max insults him by saying "Not unless
you wear your hat on your ass." after which Jonas and Margot make a hasty
escape. Max heads to the bar
in frustration and no sooner is she gone than Daphne, Logan's former fiance,
enters the picture and
proceeds to monopolize him for the rest of the evening.
Over at Jam Pony Cindy, Sketchy and Herbal are unsuccessful in their hunt
for the tube-package. But they
discover that it was Max who mistakenly delivered the switched tube-package
to an architect named Angelo
Biondello. Cindy pages Max at the wedding.
As Max is introduced to Daphne she receives Cindy's page and leaves Logan
chatting away with Daphne to
take the call. Cindy talks to Max at a phone booth outside Biondello's
locked building and informs her of
Normal's kidnapping, the circumstances surrounding the tube-package mix-up,
and asks Max to help her out
at Biondello's building because Cindy is unable to gain access. Max informs
Cindy that she'll be there as
soon as possible. She returns to Logan who is still chatting with Daphne
and when Max attempts to break in
on their conversation they ignore her. When she finally breaks in to tell
Logan she has to go rescue Normal
he dismisses Max without concern and resumes his chat with Daphne unfazed.
Max leaves them in
agitation, selects a car key, any key, from a key rack at the front door
and exits the wedding party to meet
Cindy at Biondello's building.
Later on, Max pulls up in a flash car in front of Biondello's building.
She hands Cindy her purse and then
pulls some truly spectacular vertical jumps and acrobatics up the side
of a building to gain access through
a third story window. Entering Biondello's office Max encounters Biondello
perched on a window ledge
about to commit suicide. As Max goes to the window she startles Biondello
who falls off the ledge. Max
grabs onto Biondello super fast and manages to pull him up to safety. When
Biondello explains he was
going to commit suicide because of a lost client resulting from the lost
blueprint Max slaps him, tells him
that he should live for his family, and asks him what happened to the painting.
Biondello explains that he
threw the painting in the trash and that it is probably in a garbage bin.
As Max starts to leave Biondello
calls her back and thanks her for saving his life. Max considers his statement
for a second and promises to
get his blueprint back for him.
Searching for the painting, Max goes outside Biondello's building to a
garbage bin. With no choice but to
enter the garbage bin she decides to remove her dress to prevent it from
getting ruined. After digging
around in the garbage bin for a while she finds the painting and heads
back to Cindy waiting at the car.
While Cindy zips up the back of Max's dress Max looks in her purse for
the car keys and, shocked, sees
Logan's speech.
Meanwhile, back at the party, it is time for Logan's speech but he realizes
that Max still has it. He laughs
nervously.
At DuVallier's, Cindy arrives and enters with the tube-package Max rescued
from the garbage bin. DuVallier
opens the tube-package and runs a scanner over the painting but he's not
pleased because it appears the
painting is actually a fake. He turns to Runion's partner for an explanation.
Runion's partner says that
perhaps Runion double-crossed him or perhaps Cindy & Normal are players.
DuVallier's bodyguard
promptly drags Runion's partner out of the room and tosses him out the
window. DuVallier threatens to kill
Normal next if Cindy can't find a way to locate Runion and get the real
painting for him.
Logan, meanwhile, continues to struggle miserably as he attempts to ad
lib his speech. Max returns to the
party and enters the room as Logan struggles and she begins to mouth the
words from Logan's speech.
Logan recovers. After Logan succeeds with his speech Max questions Logan
about Daphne and Logan
questions Max about where she got her dress. Before they can complete their
conversation Max is paged
yet again by Cindy and she goes to the next room to make the call. While
speaking to Cindy, Max also
overhears Logan's aunt Margot and a female wedding guest discussing Logan
and the potential for him
and Daphne to get together again. Max sets a rendezvous with Cindy and
exits the party.
Meeting up at Runion's boarding house Max and Cindy learn from Runion's
neighbor that Runion split for
the airport a short time ago. Max and Cindy take off and locate Runion
and three young women having a
party in a hot tub while Runion waits for the weather to clear until he
can make is flight. Max and Cindy
storm into the room and corner Runion in the hot tub. Max and Cindy force
Runion to tell them that he
actually sold the Rockwell painting to a Korean ship captain for the Korean
presidential palace. Max and
Cindy take off and Max returns to the party -- this time with Cindy in
tow.
Max drags Logan away from Daphne and they use a computer in a study in
a room at the wedding party to
search for information on the stolen art and its destination. Logan's computer
search reveals a Republic of
Korea military transport, docked in Elliot Bay, about to set sail. Max
decides to go to the ship to search for
the real Rockwell. Before leaving the wedding party, Max quickly explains
to Cindy that Daphne is Logan's
ex and asks Cindy to intervene. Cindy proceeds to make a move on Daphne.
On the Korean ship in Elliot Bay Max sneaks aboard and, while carefully
avoiding detection, searches for
the Rockwell painting. After a search she finds a safe which she cracks
easily to discover the painting inside.
As she pulls it out and spreads the painting open on a table, a Korean
sailor enters the room. As the
Korean moves in she kicks his ass. He manages to pull an alarm and soon
other sailors are rushing in to
capture Max as well. She proceeds to kick their asses too before escaping
from the ship using the old
grappling hook & wire trick.
Back in DuVallier's lair where Normal is held hostage Max soon enters and
hands DuVallier the
tube-package. DuVallier opens the tube-package, unfurls the Rockwell and
scans it for authenticity. It is the
real deal. DuVallier allows Normal and Max to go but before doing so Max
demands that DuVallier give
her Biondello's blueprint. He hands it over and Max and Normal leave.
A bit later Max and Normal pull up in the "borrowed" car and Max stops
to let Normal out. Normal thanks
her for the rescue, Max cuts him off, orders him out of the car, gives
him Biondello's blueprint, tells Normal
to deliver it to Biondello. and then zooms back to the wedding.
Returning yet again to the wedding, Max explains to Logan that she gave
the Rockwell painting to
DuVallier in order to save Normal's life. Logan, though valuing Normal's
life, wishes that were some way to
get the Rockwell back in order to preserve some small part of the American
culture that is being stripped
away since the Pulse. As Logan speaks, Bennett and Marianne go to the balcony
and Marianne prepares to
throw the bouquet. Logan breaks off as Max quickly moves in to interfere
with the bouquet toss which is
headed directly for Daphne. Max jabs the bouquet out of Daphne's reach
and it lands in Cindy's arms. Max
calmly returns to Logan. Logan and Max decide to meet up at the airport
to retrieve the painting back from
DuVallier as DuVallier catches a flight to Singapore. They split up. Logan
heads off to the Morgue.
Before leaving the wedding Max moves in behind aunt Margot, leans over
her, and thanks Margot for the
wonderful time she had. Margot doesn't suspect a thing.
While Cindy frowns down at the bouquet in her hands and considers the waste
of good karma because
she'll never be searching for a husband, Daphne strolls up and offers to
play Cindy a game of pool. Daphne
and Cindy exit the wedding together.
Over at the city morgue Logan is speaking with Beverly King, the Coroner,
who is pleased to be working for
an operative of Eyes Only (she doesn't know that Logan is Eyes Only). Beverly
pulls out the corpse of
Runion's partner. Logan pulls out a gun. He aims it at Runion's deceased
partner and fires a bullet into
Runion's partner's head.
Later on at the airport, Max hides behind a wall as Logan intentionally
collides with DuVallier and his men
as they arrive to catch their plane to Singapore. As Logan collides with
DuVallier he puts the gun (with
which he shot Runion's partner's corpse) into a seam in DuVallier's luggage.
As DuVallier and his men
move through the metal detector the alarm goes off. While DuVallier and
his men are distracted by the
Airport Security Guard, Max dashes in and quickly grabs the tube containing
the original Rockwell painting.
Airport Security find the gun, the security officers draw their weapons
on DuVallier and his men, and Max
and Logan make a hasty retreat from the airport leaving the chaos behind
them. Max turns to Logan and
congratulates Logan who, by shooting Runion's partners corpse and then
planting the gun in DuVallier's
bag, effectively framed DuVallier for the murder of Runion's partner for
which DuVallier was responsible in
the first place.
Back at Logan's apartment Max and Logan continue to discuss Max's dress
and Daphne. Max learns from
Logan that Daphne broke off the engagement and he didn't want Max to know.
But, after seeing Daphne
and Cindy together at the wedding, he now suspects why Daphne broke the
engagement. Max informs
Logan that she borrowed the dress from a store but has plans to return
it. Logan compliments Max on her
appearance in the dress and says he will contact the store to instruct
them to charge the dress to him so
Max may keep it. When talk turns to Logan's family Logan says he plans
to stand up to them and to
demand that his aunt Margot return his mother's locket. No sooner does
he say these words than Max pulls
out the locket she snatched from Margot and hands it over to Logan. Max
leaves and Logan, turning from
the table, bangs into a table leg. It seems to hurt him. Not sure if he
felt something, he quickly turns and
bangs into the table a second time only to feel sensation in his leg.
