THE USS DEMOCRITUS AN INVICTUS CLASS TESTBED
The Democritus was the preliminary testbed design for the Invictus Project, using a generalized, yet smaller, Avatar-Class vessel's hull as a subject. Once system testing was completed, the first Invictus-Class ships were constructed.
THE INVICTUS CLASS Assault Cruiser
The INVICTUS is a Sovreign-Class primary hull which has been "Defiant-ized." Lean, fast, heavily armed, and frightening, the Invictus is a pure fighting machine, built to take the roughest punishment a Dominion Warship could give. Even the ship's phaser and lifepod arrays were intentionally placed to give the Invictus a menacing, feline appearance.
"Out of the night that covers me, Black as the Pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud, Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find me, unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul." -- William Ernest Henley
