My Take is basically what I think about the players on any team, (But basically, it is the Cardinals.) and what I have thought of them when I met them.
Mark McGwire:
I met him at Spring Training 2001. He didn't say one word, he didn't look up at all when he was signing. He showed no expressions. But it must of been a bad day with the press or something because when we went to a game and sat in the first row by the first base line during the season, my sister yelled his name and he winked at her. Not once.... but twice. So he's a nice, fun guy.
J.D. Drew & Bud Smith:
On Sunday, November 25, 2001 at the Millenium Hotel, I met Bud Smith and J.D. Drew. Bud Smith was so nice. I got his autograph and my picture taken with him. Then I was first in line for J.D. (surprise surprise) and when he sat down he was singing "Movin' on up...." and someone called his name and asked how he was. He said "Pretty Good." J.D. just flew in from Georgia from visiting his family to sign for St. Louis fans. *NOTE: J.D. has a Southern accent!* Then I walked up to him and quietly I said "Hi, I'm Katie, how are you?" He said "I'm pretty good." Then I asked, "Can I please have my picture taken with you?" And he replied, "Sure can, come around the other side of the table." And as he put his arm around me for the picture I said "Oh my gosh." Then my Dad took the picture and I said "Thank you so much and good luck in 2002." He said "No problem and thanks." My Dad said "You just made her Christmas." (Because he was $50 and it was part of my Christmas present.) J.D. said "I'm glad I could help." After about 5 minutes, I was still standing there taking pictures of him while he signed for others. Then I said "J.D." and he looked at me and I said "smile" and he did and I took a picture. I will never forget that day as long as I live.
**I will post the pictures of me and J.D. and me and Bud once we get a new scanner!**
