The Melnorme Culture

Knowledge. That is the core of the Melnorme. They have an ever going quest for knowledge. Unlike most other races the Melnorme are actually fair to the highest known extent. They even inform you if there are 'better deals' elsewhere (they mentioned that the Druuge sell stuff at unreasonably low prices even they deal with people, which is known (unless you have the Shofixti) to be much more counter productive). They have a pleasant manor with themselves and joke around with those who they sell to. They probably know much about the psychology of the race of the captains they talk to because the Melnorme are far too carasmatic in a human sort of way for the Melnorme to be actually like that. That is why there is always some sort of contrast there, usually undetected, between there seemingly useless comments and the informative sidenotes.

The Melnorme have a strict moral code that they do not deviate from and do not appear to be effected at all by any race at all (well the Ur-Quan allegidly made them flee from there homeworld a few thousand years ago, but aside from that). They do have homeworlds, but they are probably cloaked or hidden somehow, since they would fear an invasion from the Ur-quan. QuasiSpace would seem to be the most prudent choice, Ur-Quan can't get there. And all the contact with them is done through ships, so probably many Melnorme spend their lives in a ship servicing their race for biological specimens and locations to rainbow worlds, however that is all that they have asked us for, they could want other things from other people.

Trading or things related to trade seems to be a great big thing in their culture. They consider it inappropreiate and vulgar to give anything for free. So it's not just with other races, but also amongst themselves, this would greatly effect relations with eachother. It does not appear that the Melnorme have any romantic relationship in any way with other Melnorme and reproduction of the Melnorme is completely unknown. The Melnorme seems to like everyone, even if they have not given them anything in return, so it can be rest assured that emotion exchanges (if the Melnorme have them), would be free and only material things and knowledge need to be bought and sold. They have long abandonned currency so exchange in information between the Melnorme must be an extensive excercise even to get some simple information.

NOTE: I definately could have missed something or you could have thought of an interesting possible theory on what the Melnorme culture is like, please email me. Just keep in well within the boundries of reason.
