V Gets A Life

Ch 7

V stood in shock unwilling to believe what was happening. Jasper Jax was caressing her face. He asked her not to go on her date with Jerry. As she considered her response, a short knock and the creaking of the door interrupted her thoughts. She did not have to look up to know that Jerry had entered.

Jerry stood in the doorway in disbelief. "Well isn’t this cozy. You couldn’t handle that she was going out with me? Did our date make you a little jealous? Tell me baby brother, did the green eyed monster send you up here tonight?" Jerry said while trying to maintain an air of amusement.

Jax stepped back from his position behind V. He shook his head as if in a daze. He knew he was enjoying their closeness, however, he wasn't quite sure how it had happened. "I came to apologize."

"Must have been some apology." Jerry said, his sarcastic tone impossible to miss. "I gather she accepted."

"It would appear that she has. She isn’t going with you." Jax hoped his statement would cause Jerry to give up and leave.

V, however, took his comment as another instance of interference. "I never said I wasn’t going." His earlier interest intrigued and excited her, however, V would not allow Jax to make her life decisions. "You can’t choose for me. I can choose for myself." V said angrily. "Are we ready to go?"

"After you, Luv." Jerry said holding the door open for V. With a satisfied grin he spoke again. "Should we wait for your guest to leave?"

"He is bright he can find his own way out." V purposefully brushed up against Jerry as she passed. "I don’t want to miss a moment of our evening together."

Jax stood trying to come up with the words to protest. However, not finding them, he simply watched the pair leave. "What do I do now?" Jax asked himself when he was finally alone.

----

While Jax stood befuddled by the evenings activities Jerry took V out to a waiting limousine. "Our chariot awaits." Jerry said with a grin as he held the door open.

"Jerry!" V exclaimed sharply, "You shouldn’t have done this." Nobody had ever taken her out in a limousine. Not even at the prom. Why would Jerry do this for their date of convenience?

"I like to talk to the women I am with. It is harder to talk when I am concentrating on the road. You don't seem like the type who would be amused by my breaking all the traffic laws I can think of and then some. Besides, the view is much better this way." Jerry said sitting across from her.

V blushed. "Still…"

"The limousine is ours for the night. Enjoy it. Have some champagne." Jerry picked up a bottle and two glasses and began to pour.

V reluctantly accepted the glass. "I guess it couldn’t hurt." Realizing that she was still a little tense she hoped the champagne would loosen her up a bit.

"’Atta girl." Jerry smiled. "Shall we make a toast?"

V thought over the matter. "To a night filled with surprises." V said holding her glass up. "It seems that when ever I think I have tonight figured out another surprise pops up. First Simon, then your visiting, then Jax visiting, then our ‘date’ then Jax coming back…"

"Want to talk about it?" Jerry asked softly. He was more than a little curious about what he had walked in on. He knew enough not to push, but he hoped she would offer.

"After you left he came back to apologize. I wasn’t really interested and I went into my room to change. When I came out, he was still there. When I asked him to do my chain, he got closer than I expected him to. He told me not to go with you."

"Why did you come with me? Jax looked more than interested in you tonight. I thought that was what you wanted."

V laughed. "I thought it was. Maybe it is. I don’t know. I wanted him to notice me for so long. When he did…." She was about to continue when the car stopped.

Jerry cursed the timing of the stop. Her story was just getting interesting. However, he knew he couldn’t get her talking like that again if they just sat there. He opened the door. "Here we are." He said after taking her hand to help her out of the car.

V stood in with an amused grin on her face. "Another surprise."

"The night is still young, Luv. There are plenty more to come." Jerry said with a laugh watching the expression on her face.
