V Gets A Life

Ch 13

Jax thought about his answer. What about V had him so mixed up? He hadn't given it much thought before and decided to start from the beginning. "When we met she was so annoying. She thought I was a drug smuggler. She followed me everywhere I went. She listened in on my phone conversations, sat next to me in restaurants, and even used the stationary bike next to mine at the gym. She wouldn't go away. I was so relieved when the caught the real smuggler. I would finally have her out of my hair."

"Well something obviously changed. You don't seem happy to have her out of your hair now."

"No I would much rather have her running her fingers through my hair now." Jax said with a slight smile.

"Cute, but that doesn't answer my question. What changed?"

"Well, when she was gone, I missed her. Kind of like I missed Jerry when he would spend the night with friends. I got used to having her around. When she wasn't hanging around I missed being annoyed. It was amusing in a way."

Bobbie looked at him with a small grin. "I imagine. Go on."

"Well then she lost her job because of me. I needed an assistant and she was much more organized than I ever dreamed of being." Jax smiled. "If she could keep on top of me for weeks she could certainly handle my schedule. So, I hired her and stopped missing her."

"Okay now you have described loyal colleague, or a good friend. Then what?"

Jax laughed. "She is. The best friend I have ever had. Well she and I grew closer. I learned to appreciate her wonderful sense of humor, her artistic talents, and her refusal to bow down to me. She became indispensable."

"And you fell in love? What took you so long to do something about it?"

"No, not at first. She was still a friend, a little sister. When I groomed her for our Monte Carlo adventure, I saw her beauty. She learned to walk, dress, dance and charm people with her witty conversation. I saw how amazingly beautiful she was. She shined."

"But you didn't tell her?"

"Well, no. We came home and she back to being V."

"And you wanted the glamorous woman you created? Is that what you want now?"

"I have always dated women like the one she was in Monte Carlo. I never dated anybody real before." Jax tried to explain. "I couldn't see the real V because of the super model image I had built up of women. Earlier today I tried to set her up with man who enjoyed her in Monte Carlo."

"Why let him date her but not Jerry?" Bobbie asked curious about his answer.

"Jerry would appreciate V, not just the Countess."

--

"So tell me, Luv. What makes my little brother so special?"

V thought about her response. "He is smart, funny and sophisticated."

Jerry looked at her and smiled. "You have to do better than that, Luv. I am all those things."

"So you are." V said with a frown.

"What else V? Why him?" Jerry tried to get her to vocalize her feelings.

"What kind of question is that? Why Bobbie?" V returned.

"She is amazingly intelligent. She can be bitingly funny or she can lift somebody up with a smile. She likes people, you know she trusts them. Her personality matches her fiery red hair. She can hold her own with the likes of me."

V smiled. "So can I. Why her and not me?" Venus gave him a dose of her own medicine.

"Maybe I am here with you now because I can't answer that question." Jerry said in a light but serious tone.

"Well I know why Jax is different from every other guy."

"Why is that, Luv?" Jerry asked with a smile.

"I was always the ugly duckling. My mom wasn't around as much. I climbed trees and rode bikes. I shunned tea parties and dress up. Even as an adult pants and a gun comforted me more than an evening gown and a purse."

"There's nothing wrong with that, Luv. It mad you strong, hard to intimidate."

"Yes, but it made me hard to love. Jax broke through that wall. He found the beautiful woman inside of me." V beamed.

Jerry shook his head. He wasn't ready to fight her about this. "You want him to love you back."

"Yes, is that too much to ask? You said you could help. How?"
