Ch 14
"Well, if little brother likes you as much as I think he does, he will fall into place." Jerry told V.
"What will make him fall into place?" V asked when she realized he hadn't said anything concrete.
"This, we will. Assuming he has feelings for you seeing us together will make him jealous." Jerry said confidently.
"Jerry, you have to give Jax some credit. That won't work." V said exasperated.
"I saw him in your room before we left. It is already working, Luv."
"So this is your plan? You will take me out until Jax sees the light? What is your ulterior motive?"
"What makes you think I have one? Maybe I am just a nice guy." Jerry offered.
"Maybe, but not likely." V countered. "What's in it for you? Why would you spend an evening out with me? Why help Jax when you could be helping yourself?"
"You are good company?" V's refusal to take anything at face value amused him greatly.
"No, I doubt that." V's expression was pensive as she began searching for ulterior motives herself. "Maybe you aren't trying to make Jax jealous." She offered.
"What am I trying to do?" Jerry asked still amused but growing tired.
"You are trying to make Bobbie jealous." V said triumphantly.
This amused Jerry. "What led you to this conclusion?"
"Well, she is mad at you. You thought, if she saw she was about to lose you, she would forgive you, for whatever she was mad about." V said contentedly having figured out her problem.
"Bobbie and I broke up weeks ago. We aren't getting back together, Luv."
"Why was she so mad at you today? If you broke up weeks ago, wouldn't she be over it? Why were you out together?"
"We are still friends, Luv." Jerry smiled at her persistence in figuring this out.
"I don't dump drinks on my friends."
"Maybe that says something about your friends. They are too reserved."
"If you don't think Jax is fun, why do you want me to be with him?" V asked with a grin.
"I didn't say I wanted you to be with him." Jerry countered.
"Then why launch this plan?" V asked again befuddled by Jerry's words.
"Because you want to be with Jasper." Jerry answered simply.
"You don't want me to be with him, though? I am an not good enough?" V asked indignantly. Jerry words aggrivated her.
"I didn't say that either, Luv. If you weren't good enough for Jax I wouldn't need to help you get him interested."
"What does that mean?" She asked the red in her cheeks showing she was furious about the turn the conversation was taking. He seemed to be insulting Jax.
"Jasper is a good man. He is smart, funny, and handsome. All the things you said." Jerry answered. "However, he has lousy taste in women."
"He had Brenda." V offered with little sincerity.
"And you have proved my point, Luv. Brenda was gorgeous but she didn't have what it takes to be with Jasper."
"You think I do?" V asked curiously. She hated that Jerry was so opinionated about his brother's love life but oddly she wanted his approval.
"You have all the criteria I require for Jax and then some." Jerry nodded.
"Do you have requirements for women you date as well? What does Jerry Jacks look for in a woman?"
--
Bobbie turned to Jax. "You are worried he will fall for her?"
"She has everything he looks for in a woman, and then some." Jax wondered what was going on at that moment. "What if he falls for her? What do I do then?"
"That is something you have to figure out for yourself. If I were you I would have a plan on what to do if that happens." Bobbie offered. Seeing the look on Jax' face when he described V, Bobbie thought Jax was probably right.
"Do you think it could happen? He could fall for her?" Jax asked worried. He knew it too but having Bobbie say it didn't help. "You can help me, will you?"
"What do you expect me to do?" Bobbie asked curiously.
