Ch 12
Jax looked at Bobbie as if he had heard the impossible. "A plan? Did you say you have a plan? What kind of plan? Can I get to her tonight?" He asked curious. Jax knew he had to do something but in his current state he was completely out of ideas.
Bobbie was ever more amused by Jax' reaction. "There is nothing you can do tonight. If you go after the boat, you will look like a fool. If you wait up for her, you will seem like you don't trust her. Either way you would lose points with her."
Jax looked guilty. He didn’t need to make his position any worse. She was still mad from before. He wouldn't do anything to make her stay that way. "What do you think I should do?"
Bobbie smiled. The fact that he could still listen to advice gave her hope that things would turn out okay. "Use the podium you are given tomorrow."
"What do you mean?" Jax' current state of mind made riddles unbearable.
"The nurses ball is tomorrow. Get on the stage. Lucy always has a last minute cancellation. Use your time on the stage to tell her how you feel."
Jax looked at Bobbie quizzically. "You want me to perform? You think that is the best way to get V's attention?"
"What is the worst thing that can happen?"
"She is totally humiliated and never speaks to me again. She thinks it was stupid and loses any respect she had for me at all. Or the entire audience laughs at me." Jax listed three possible problems off the top of his head.
"Well at least would be contributing to AIDS research." Bobbie offered with a smile.

V looked at Jerry in shock. When he told her he could think of better things to do than sleep, she had assumed the worst. " I am not about to entertain you. We aren't on that kind of date."
Jerry gave an amused laugh. "Luv you have been entertaining me all evening."
"I am not going to be your plaything." V clarified as her face reddened.
"I didn't ask you to be. I just said there were better things to do tonight than sleep."
"What kind of things?" V asked softly knowing her assumptions made her look foolish. Why did she always have to assume the worst? Whenever she said something like that it came out stupid.
"We could look at the stars, talk, play a game of cards. Whatever you want, Luv." Jerry offered softly trying to ease her embarrassment by not drawing attention to it.
V thanked him silently for not hounding her about her mistake. "The stars are nice. I learned them when I was little. Cards I am a little wary of. I would hate for you to get me into a game of strip poker." She said with a smile. She could have fun with him. "You do still owe me an explanation of that plan of yours."
Jerry noted the increasing confidence she showed. "Why don't we get a couple of deck chairs? Then I will tell you exactly what I have in mind." He walked slowly down the deck until he found a place with nice dry chairs that looked up into the stars. "Maybe, after I tell you this, you can tell me the stars. I can't do them from this hemisphere."
"You got yourself a deal, Jerry." V lay down on the chair and looked up at the stars. "It is so much more peaceful out here than it is in the city." She said softly.
"Would you considering living on a live aboard?" Jerry asked curiously. When he was a kid he had dreamed of living on a boat out to sea all the time. He never wanted to step foot on solid land. Now he didn't get off of it enough.
"Not for a long period of time. I would love it for a long vacation on the water. But I couldn't do it for forever. I need to stimulate my body, mind, and soul all the time. That doesn't happen enough when you aren't with new people."
Jerry was enjoying their conversation but knew he would have to bring it back to Jax. "Do you think my brother can stimulate all of that in you?"
V was startled when Jerry mentioned Jax. For the first time, in forever, he really wasn't on her mind. Even her insistence on learning Jerry's plan had more to do with wanting to justify the trip then knowing what was going on. Still he asked a fair question. "I think he can, yes."
Jerry tried not to point out Jax flaws and simply asked one question. "Why do you think that?"
--
Jax turned to Bobbie. "I will do it. However it is not because it is the politically correct thing to do."
"Why then?" Bobbie asked although she thought she knew the answer.
"I will do it for V. To show her I do care about her." Jax said softly as he tried to decide what to do. "Any ideas on how I show that?"
"I will need to know where you are coming from. What makes her so special? What makes her worth the embarrassment? What about her has you so mixed up?" She wondered curiously what he would say while she waited for his response.
