Jax was stunned by the situation that confronted him. How had he let this happen? What would he do now? He thought of a million stories he could tell to get himself out of this. However, he knew only one would work. These were smart women. They deserved the truth. However, he hoped he could stall until it was easier to tell.
Jax looked at his wife. "Venus came home from her excursion with Simon. She was just about to tell me her story when you arrived. Why don't you sit down and listen to it?"
"Excursion?" V asked indignantly before being cut off.
Alexis smiled at her husband. "I would love to hear her story but not right now. I would rather hear yours." The tone in her voice proved that she was not about to back down.
"As much as I would love to hear that story, I think it is time for me to go." Before anybody could object or say anything else for that matter V was downstairs in her room checking her voice mail.
Alexis closed the door and turned to Jax. "Are you in love with her?"
"This is Luke. Talk to me." Luke said into the phone.
"How much of my message did you get?" The tired sad voice on the other end of the line asked.
Luke sighed. "I just recognized your voice. I was otherwise engaged." Luke said with an apologetic smile to his wife.
"Sorry man. Give Luce my love. I can call back in a couple of hours. I need help finding something, or somebody, it can wait." The voice was steady and unsure about the last statement.
"What's going on? Who do you need to find? Why do you think I can help?" Luke asked curious.
"This is a long story." When Luke didn't interrupt he began. "I have been at the library reading medical journals. I think I know what is wrong with Sarah. I need your help to find the man who can save my daughter." Jason said in a strong but pleading voice.
A soft smile appeared on Stefan's face when he heard the woman on the other line. "No wrong number." He said into the receiver before turning to Bobbie. "Your daughter."
Bobbie took the phone and happily began talking into the phone. "Carly it is so good to hear from you. I just called you. Were you calling me back? Jason has call return, right?"
Carly could not return her mother's enthusiasm. Bobbie had been out of touch for a couple of weeks. She did not know how sick Sarah had become. Carly wondered how could she break Bobbie's mood by telling her now. How could Carly pretend to be happy when her life was collapsing around her? She didn't know what to say and so she remained silent.
"I am so happy you called. I tried to call last week. I didn’t get anybody. I would have called more often but it was hard to get a phone. I was in a secluded area. Is everything okay? You are really quiet." Bobbie asked concerned. It wasn't like Carly not to say anything at all.
Carly tried to avoid the question. "Where were you? It isn't like you to just go away." Carly was glad that Bobbie had gone away. Bobbie had been down since she had broken up with Jerry. Carly was so busy taking care of Sarah she hadn't really had time to do anything to help. As glad as she was that Bobbie seemed to be moving on Carly couldn't help but wish Bobbie had been there the week before when Sarah had taken a turn for the worse.
"Oh I know. Running off isn't like me, anymore. I used to do things like that. I had the most wonderful time. Can we meet so I can tell you about it?"
"Of course. You must be working. You are with Stefan. He must be thrilled that you are taking personal calls on hospital time." Carly said sarcastically. "I will let you go. Can you come over after your shift. I need to talk with you too." Carly decided to wait to tell Bobbie about Sarah in person.
Bobbie smiled. Stefan couldn't say anything about her personal calls if he wasn't going to complain about other things they were doing together on hospital time. "I will tell you all about it when I get there."
"A surprise? Did I say I had a surprise?" Laura asked as she thought back over her telephone message. "I said I had something to tell you. I said I would tell you, when we met for lunch." Laura said still thinking.
"What is it you were going to tell me, Laura?" Scott asked a little exasperated. Laura had been a little wishy washy with him since they renewed their friendship almost a year before.
"I don't know how to tell you this, Scottie…." Laura began but stopped when the door opened.
Kevin couldn’t believe that Eve had insinuated that Laura might be with Scott. He opened the door to leave and shot her a look. "That might bother you more than it would bother me." After making that statement he left and slammed the door behind him.
Eve laughed at his display. "Scott may have been interesting a couple of years ago. However, there is no way he could compare to Sonny." She said out loud in the empty room. She returned to her paper work while her mind wandered to her date.
"Jacks, you can't keep me here like this. I have a date." Sonny said hoping he could get Jerry to crack.
Jerry simply laughed. "I didn't tie you to that chair. You sat there yourself. You can get up and leave at anytime."
"I am not leaving until you tell me what is going on. You could have gotten me killed now you won't tell me anything. Why?"
Jerry smiled. "Maybe because bothering you is just that much fun."
The look on Jerry's face convinced Sonny that might be the real reason Jerry wouldn’t say anything. Sonny decided to give up this quest and let his men dig up Jerry's motives.
Sonny was about to leave when the doorbell rang.
