Sitting on the bed of her suite V tried to decide what she would tell Jax. She knew she would have to tell him something. She just didn’t know what. After a few minutes she changed clothes and went upstairs.
Jax opened the door before she knocked. “Welcome back.” He smiled. “Come sit down, have your salad, and tell me why you are here.”
“As soon as I get back it is time for the inquisition? You could fill me in on your year too. When I left you were planing to annul your marriage to Alexis. You also planned to bail Ned out of his promise to marry Chloe. However, you said you didn’t marry Chloe. What changed?’
Jax’ smile faded. “You never forget anything.”
“That comes as a surprise to you? I never did before. Now talk.”
“I would rather hear about your life.” Jax hoped she would relent.
Jax was disappointed, yet, not shocked when he heard her next words. “Jasper Jacks, what are you hiding?”
A voice from the doorway cut off Jax answer. “If I had to guess, I would say he was hiding me.”
After Luke left the office, Lane’s story began. “Your Daddy and I are complicated. He has been my best pal for years. But there was never anything romantic between us. We had bad timing. First he was married to Lulu’s Mom and I was with my Doc. Then I was with Scott. Luke flirted with my best girl pal, Felicia. Then, after remembering that Felicia was married, he and your Mom made you. They did an excellent job with that.” She smiled at Lane before continuing.
“Well, one day when I was going crazy planning the Nurses’ Ball. I always get crazy during Nurses’ Ball time. Luke, you, and I met for lunch. He was trying to calm me down. You slept through most of it. During lunch we realized we were both single for the first time in forever. It was kismet. It was way too good to pass up. Your Daddy and I got married the very next weekend.”
Lucy began to tell Lane all about the wedding, however, looking down she realized Lane was sleeping. Putting him in his crib she left the office and found Luke. “He went straight to sleep after a great naptime story.”
Luke laughed and pointed to the baby monitor. “I don’t remember our courtship quite that way.”
Lucy wrapped her arms around Luke and kissed him deeply. “Yes but my story was G-rated. We weren’t.”
“We never will be either.” Luke said as he grabbed baby monitor and led his wife to his old apartment.
Sliding off the desk Bobbie looked around the room and laughed. The majority of the contents of Stefan’s desktop now laid scattered across the floor. “You haven’t lost your touch.”
“I am sure that will comfort the cleaning staff greatly, Barbara.” Stefan said with a short laugh as he began to search around the room for his clothes.
Bobbie laughed. “Or, horror of horrors, you could clean yourself.” Catching the look he gave she changed gears. “Can I use your phone to call my daughter?” After finding the line busy she turned back to Stefan. “Entertain me.”
Carly picked up the phone. “Jase.” She said happily. As worried as she was about Sarah she always felt a rush when she spoke to her husband.
“Hey, have Sarah’s tests come back?” Jason asked concerned. He had always assumed that he would never be as scared as he was when Michael was sick. They had fixed Michael. Sarah had been sick since she was born. Nobody could seem to find the cause.
“No the lab technicians are out. It seems half of them are on vacation and the other half have the flu. They won’t be able to run her tests until tomorrow or maybe Wednesday. Jase, what if these are negative too? What if they can’t find out why she is sick?”
“Don’t think like that. I am working on that now. I will tell you when I get home.”
Laura arrived at her destination and parked. looking behind her and let out the breath she had been holding. She thanked God that Kevin had not followed her. He wasn’t the stalker type. Still, she didn’t want him to catch her there.
“Punctual as ever, Ms. Webber. Ready for our lunch date?”
“What are you suggesting, Corinthos? You want a date?” Eve asked surprised but intrigued.
“Just one wouldn’t kill you. What do you say?”
“I can’t date you. You are a patient.” As she said it she wished it wasn’t true.
“Come over tonight as my doctor. Take a look at my bandages. I will make some pasta. As long as you bring sterile gauze instead of wine we won’t cross any lines.”
“You do need somebody to look after your bandages. What time do you think you will need that done?” Eve asked with a smile. She didn’t like looking after gunshot wounds; but the prospect of watching him lose his shirt made it appealing.
“I have a meeting in a few minutes. I don’t know how long that will last. Can you make it seven?”
“Seven it is.” Eve said with a smile as she left the room.
As soon as Eve had gone, Johnny entered with a change of clothes for Sonny. After changing and discarding the old garments he left the hospital.
Jerry was just turning off his computer when he heard the bell. He never seemed to get a moment to himself. He liked having visitors. He simply wished that just once, when he opened his door, he would find a beautiful woman standing there.
“Why the hell did you let me get shot? And did you get the information you needed? Want to tell me about it now? What was so important it was worth getting shot for?” Sonny asked as he burst through the door.
