“You have us all sitting on the edge of our seats.” Eve said sarcastically.
Jerry grinned. “Right where I wanted you.” He quipped.
“Are you going to leave us hanging here?” She continued the banter.
“The thought did occur to me, yes.” He said with a satisfied smile. There was nothing he loved more than irritating people.
“Great just what we need on a covert operation, somebody who will get us poised for action and then fall back.” V smirked. “Come on Jerry, talk.”
Jerry laughed. He vaguely remembered Jax’ friend being shy. V certainly wasn’t afraid to speak her mind around him. Of course the WSB never paired him with anybody they thought might bow down to him. “I was just thinking that a nice game of what did you do last night, would be fun.” Jerry smirked hoping to get Sonny and Eve to tell him what they had done the night before.
“Nice try Jacks.” Sonny said in a tone that reflected his lack of amusement.
V laughed at the hurt expression on Jerry’s face. “We should prepare for the mission. We transfer to the plane in less than an hour. While in the air we must remain silent on mission operations and objectives. If anybody has any questions about what happens after we land, ask them now. It may be your last chance.”
“Spencer.” Scott said with a smug grin. “My connection with Laura is none of your business. She doesn’t belong to you anymore.”
Luke shook his head. “That always was your problem, Baldwin. You thought she belonged to you. She never did. Neither did Lucy. Maybe if you learned that you would stop losing women to me. Of course your personality would have to improve as well.”
“Look who is lecturing me about personality. That is rich.” Scott said with a snide grin.
“You are just jealous. Now, on the off chance that you know something useful, have you seen Laura?”
“Why do you care where she is? You divorced her.”
“As if you never cared where Lucy was? You call and check up on us at least twice every weekend that we have Serena. Now my ex wife missed picking up our daughter, which wouldn’t bother me, except it never happens. Dr. Head Shrinker doesn’t know where she is, and you obviously have something to do with all of this. Talk.”
Laura studied the expression on Stefan’s face. “Tell me that he isn’t alone!” She demanded as the machines around her started to beep.
“Laura think of your child. It is not good to get so excited.” Having been with her when she passed out, Stefan did not want to risk another situation. “I left strict orders that he should only be seen by family. I do not wish to have the whole world walking in on our son when he is in a vulnerable position. Surely you understand.”
“Understand? I most certainly do not. Our son is sick, he needs to know that people care about him. If Emily Quartermaine or Elizabeth Webber can help our son heal then they should be sitting with him.” Laura’s anger came through her words. “He should not be alone.”
“I have made the decision I think is best four my son.” Stefan tried to defend himself.
Laura shook her head. She would not be swayed by his stubbornness. “You were wrong. Fix it.”
Bobbie sighed as she looked at Nikolas’ visitor. She didn’t like the restrictions Stefan had put on the room; and she certainly wasn’t above bending the rules when they did not make sense. It was a Spencer birthright. However, knowing that Stefan would be back to check on Nikolas, Bobbie didn’t feel she had the room to break this rule without causing her husband any more undue stress. “I am sorry, Emily. I wish I could let you stay. If you have something you would like for me to tell him, I would be happy to pass along the message.”
“Isn’t there anything you can do? Please, for just five minutes? I have…” Emily’s plea was cut short when she saw Stefan walking down the hall. “Please Mr. Cassadine, is there anyway that you will allow me to see Nikolas?”
Stefan sighed. “This goes against my better judgment. However, since my wife and Nikolas’ mother seem to think it would do him good to have visitors, you may go in.” Stefan said gruffly. “If I see any evidence that your visitation has adversely affected my son, your visitation rights will be revoked, permanently.”
Emily smiled. “I won’t hurt him, I promise. Thank you Mr. Cassadine.” Emily said happily as she turned to enter the room.
When Stefan turned to enter behind her Bobbie stopped him. “Give them time alone.” She said as she pulled him into the hall. “We need to talk, anyway.” She motioned towards his office. “It would be better if we had this conversation, in private.”
Lucy nervously paced the hospital floors. “Tests? What kind of tests?” She muttered to herself. “Honestly, not allowing a child’s mother in the room when they ran tests…. What kind of policy is that?” She continued on her solitary rant. “So I was a little out of sorts, he is just a baby… He shouldn’t be alone.” Lucy had all but made up her mind to storm into Lane’s examining room when she heard her name being called.
“Who would want me?” She wondered as she looked into the room where she thought the sound had come from. “Laura? What are you doing here?” She asked puzzled. “Are you okay? Does Luke know you are here? What happened? Was Lulu involved?” Lucy’s mind raced as she tried to understand what she was seeing.
“Lucy calm down. I am fine. I fainted. Lulu wasn’t with me. Although, I need to figure out where she is. I was supposed to pick her up hours ago.” Laura remembered suddenly panicked about her daughter’s welfare.
“She called Luke, at least I assume it was her. He said something about being right there and he called her Princess. It was probably her. I bet he went to pick her up. It could have been his mistress, but I don’t think he would talk like that in front of Lane and me if it was another woman.” Lucy tried to quell Luara’s fears. However, still worked up about Lane’s illness she couldn’t quite manage to sound calm.
“Lucy, breathe!” Laura commanded as she picked up the phone to call Luke. “But don’t go anywhere. I need to talk to you. Only you would know what to do; you have been here before.” Laura said as she listened to the ringing phone.
“Where?” Lucy asked confused. “What can I be an expert on that you need help with?”
“Scott and Kevin.” Laura admitted softly.
“And? As in both? Are you saying you are involved with both of them?” Lucy sighed. She did have experience in that area.
Carly sighed as she heard her son’s question. “Is your daddy a bad man?” She repeated. The answer was complicated. She wasn’t quite sure what to say. Many of her instincts told her to say yes. With all the custody battles there was no love lost between the pair.
“Yeah Mommy, is he?” Michael looked up at her with sad hurt eyes.
Before she could say anything at all Jason interrupted. “It isn’t really that he is a bad man…” Jason hated sticking up for AJ but he would say anything to keep Michael’s heart from breaking.
While Jason was trying to find the best word, Carly interrupted again. “He isn’t bad, he is just very sick.”
“You go to jail for being sick? Sarah’s sick she hasn’t been to jail. Are the police going to take her too?” Michael asked suddenly worried that by winter his entire family would be arrested.
“It isn’t the same kind of sick, Michael.” Carly tried to explain.
“Your Daddy’s sickness makes him do bad things. He wouldn’t do them if he wasn’t sick, but since he did them he is going to have to spend some time there.” Jason explained.
“If we make him better can he come home? Please, can we make my daddy better?” Michael asked as his tears threatened to fall again.
Jax stood in the foyer studying his watch. “Alexis, we are going to be late.” He said in a strained voice. How could anybody take that long getting ready? It wasn’t like she was dressing for a formal occasion.
“Are you saying I am not worth the wait?” She asked with a smile as she came into the room and spun around to show off her outfit.
Jax laughed. “Worth the wait and then some, darling. Are we ready?” He asked after pulling her in for a deep kiss.
“After you, husband.” She said as she took his hand and followed him out the door.
Twenty minutes later they were at the airport boarding his private plane. “Didn’t I say I would never fly with you again?” She asked with a grin as she strapped herself in next to him. “Where are we going anyway?”
“Think tropical.” He said as he prepared the plane for departure.
