Ambitions
Ch 15

Looking down Jax noticed Alexis had fallen asleep in the middle of the story. “Sleep well my love.” He kissed her forehead and covered her sleeping body before curling up next to her to fall asleep.

Hours later Alexis blinked against the light coming through the window. What time is it? She asked herself as she looked over at the clock. That couldn’t be right. She thought as she looked again. “Jax, wake up. We are late.” Alexis began to shake her husband as she spoke.

Jax rolled over and looked at his wife. “What are you mumbling about?” He asked sleepily.

“We are late. I should be half way to the office by now.” Alexis said frantically as she tried to crawl out of bed. She found herself unable to break his grip. “What are you doing? We are going to be late.”

Jax laughed. “We are off, Alexis. Don’t you remember what today is?”

Alexis looked confused. “What Jax?”

Carly rolled over and looked at the clock. “Sarah!” She exclaimed as she noticed the clock. Because Sarah could no longer keep down much food she had to be fed every two hours. She needed to take her medication every four.

Carly shot out of bed. She had never slept through a feeding before. How could she have slept through two? Tears ran down her eyes as she ran to the nursery. Carly remembered how afraid she had been of touching Michael. It all seemed so foolish now. Now, she worried that she wouldn’t have enough time to hold Sarah. “Momma is coming, sweetheart.”

“I am so sorry I overslept, honey.” Carly said through her tears as she moved towards her daughter’s crib. Looking into the crib she began to panic. “Sarah?” She cried turning around. What happened to my baby?

---

Luke walked into the bedroom holding his son. “He missed you.” He held Lane out to Lucy.

Lucy looked at him oddly. “How did we get here? Last night we…” Lucy blushed as she thought of their adventure. “It was wonderful. It would have been anyway. Forgive me?”

Luke smiled. He took Lucy for a moonlight boat ride. She had fallen asleep by the time they got all the way out. “You are forgiven as long as you make it up to me.” Luke said with a wink.

“I would love too. However I need to take a rain check. Do you mind? I really feel like I should call Laura back. She sounded really upset last night.”

Luke was about to complain when his private cell phone rang. Nobody had that number. “Spencer.” He answered. “What? What is it Princess? Are you sure? I will be there in five minutes.” Luke handed Lane to Lucy and sprinted out the door without explanation.

---

Laura awoke in a strange bed. Looking around the room she couldn’t place her surroundings. The sensation was odd. She hadn’t really experienced it since she and Luke moved back to Port Charles in 1993. “Where am I?” She wondered aloud.

Receiving no response she worked harder to figure the situation out. “Come on Laura what is the last thing you remember?” She thought back over her day. “I woke up with horrible morning sickness. I took Lulu to Amy’s. I worked. I had lunch with Scott. Kevin showed up. I ran. Stefan called me. He was with Bobbie, they told me something.” Laura furrowed her brow as she attempted to remember what happened next. “Nikolas!” She exclaimed.

By the time Stefan entered the room Laura was near hysterics. “Laura you need to calm down. It isn’t good for you our your child.” Learning about Laura’s pregnancy shocked Stefan. He wanted to ask her about it, but he realized now was not the time.

Laura was unaffected by Stefan’s remarks. She needed to know about Nikolas. “Our child, what about him?” She asked through her sobs.

Stefan rubbed his weary eyes. Between worrying about Nikolas and Laura all night he had slept for less than an hour. This conversation wouldn’t be easy. He contemplated lying but knew that ultimately his lies would blow up in his face. “Nikolas condition is not good.” He answered as Laura’s sobs picked back up.

---

Kevin arrived at Kelly’s for breakfast. Since Lulu enjoyed seeing Bobbie, Laura often stopped for breakfast on her way into work. After spending the night in front of Laura’s condo, Kevin was beginning to worry. She never came home that night. It wasn’t like her.

Scott laughed when he walked in the door. “Didn’t sleep much, either.” He said as he sat next to Kevin at the bar. He hated being in the same room with Kevin. However, if he was with Kevin he knew Kevin wasn’t with Lucy. That comforted him a little.

“You think that is your business?” Kevin asked annoyed.

“I think it is. I need to keep tabs on you now.” Scott answered.

Kevin’s eyes flashed with rage. “You slept with Laura and you want to keep tabs on me? I think you got it mixed up, Baldwin.”

“What does that mean Kevin? Aren’t you always following me?” Scott asked ready to vent his own anger.

“Do you really want to play this game, Baldwin?” Kevin tried to tone down the anger in his voice. He failed.

“It is well past time, Collins.” Scott answered.

---

Sonny and Eve groaned as the pounding on their door increased. “What the hell?” Sonny asked hoping it would go away.

Eve looked over at Sonny and smiled. This would be hard to explain to the others. She pulled on a pair of pants and opened the door slightly. “We will be with you in a minute.” She said quickly and closed the door immediately. “What are we going to tell them?” She asked as she made her way back to Sonny.

---

V looked at Jerry. “She said they would be out in a minute.”

“They should have been ready a half an hour ago.” Jerry complained. “I hate amateurs.”

“You invited them.” V reminded him.

“Thanks, Luv. That helped.” He said with a sarcastic smile.

“Anything I can do for a friend.” She answered just as sarcastically.
