“Are you ready for this? You might need some popcorn, maybe a soda. It is quite a story.” V said with a self-depreciating laugh. The more she thought about the story the more she dreaded telling it.
“I’m okay, V. You can start.” He said with a determined grin.
“It was worth a try.” V smiled. “Well, I was with the WSB, when I was first out of school. Frisco Jones trained me. You know him, right?” V tried to get the conversation off onto a tangent.
“We were partners for a couple of years. Go on.” He wasn’t letting her get away with anything.
V groaned. Why did he have to be so damned focused? “I became an inactive agent around the time I moved to PC. I had been assigned to a series of tough cases. After the art theft in Berlin, I needed a break. I was happy here, or so I thought. Obviously, if I was happy I wouldn’t have run off with Simon, but I really thought I was.”
Jerry decided to hurry up the story. “And after you ran off with Simon?”
“He started getting strange phone calls. I didn’t piece them together at first. I didn’t want to believe Simon could be involved in something sinister. However, when I learned about it, I had to put an end to it. I called Frisco, reactivated my status, and had Simon arrested.”
“Not really the vacation you had planned?” He tried to lighten the mood of the conversation. The smile she rewarded him with warmed his heart.
“Something like that. However, I realized how much I missed the WSB. After I arrested Simon, I knew I wanted to stay active. A week later, I was assigned to you.”
“Lucky me.” Jerry said with a grin.
“What do I want?” Eve tried to control the redness that had rushed to her cheeks. “Are you ready for this, Corinthos?”
“As ready as I can be, Lambert. Try me, Doc.” Sonny dared her.
Eve leaned over and whispered seductively in his ear. She pulled back and studied his expressive brown eyes as she waited for his response.
Bobbie gently massaged Stefan’s temples. “That’s what wives are for.” She said softly.
“I certainly hope wives are good for more than that.” Stefan tried to sound light. With his worry over Nikolas he found it hard.
“I will be happy to show you the other thing wives are good for when Nikolas is out of the woods.” Bobbie replied as she heard the knock on the door. “Are you ready for this?”
Stefan nodded. “I have no other choice, Barbara.”
“I love you.” Bobbie mouthed as she moved to the door.
“Bobbie.” Laura said surprised to see her. Laura was one of the few people who knew Stefan and Bobbie had begun dating. She didn’t know they had married.
“Laura, come in.” Stefan interrupted.
Laura stepped into the darkened office. “Of course. Why did you call me?”
“It is about Nikolas.” Stefan said gravely.
“He has been in an accident.” Stefan explained. “He…”
Stefan began to explain Nikolas’ condition. Yet, Laura couldn’t hear a word. All she could think about was her children. This couldn’t be happening. Nikolas had to be okay. As she thought images of her children flashed through her head. She couldn’t lose another one. Her emotions were in overdrive. Within seconds she was crying.
“Laura, try to remain calm.” Stefan said as he turned his chair around looking for a something to dry her eyes. He spun quickly when he heard the thud.
“Laura!” Bobbie exclaimed in shock as she rushed towards Laura.
“How do you intend to keep my mind off Laura?” Lucy asked with a smile. Luke always knew how to keep her entertained.
“I have a few ideas.”
“Tell me.” Lucy pleaded playfully.
“Not here.” Luke responded as he took her hand.
“Where are you taking me, Luke Spencer?”
Jason held his daughter. As soon as they had entered the nursery, Sarah had begun crying. “It is okay, sweetheart.” Jason tried to sooth the baby.
Carly knew she should help Jason. However, she lacked the strength. She stood in the doorway and surveyed the room. The yellow paint still looked brand new. Jason hadn’t wanted it. Wallpaper was easier to take care of. Carly had insisted. She wanted the bright, cheery yellow paint.
Carly let her mind wander to before Sarah was born. She had such great plans for her daughter. They were nothing elaborate. Simple things, Carly thought. She envisioned the little girl playing with stuffed animals, having tea parties, coloring. She even envisioned her playing ball with her brother. “Happy and healthy, Jase. That is all I asked for.” Carly sobbed.
Alexis smiled as she snuggled close to Jax. “I am ready for my bedtime story.” She said playfully.
Jax laughed. “Once upon a time, or a little over a year ago. There was this beautiful woman named Alexis. She was going out with an average man named, Ned. He had cute dimples and he could sing, but he was missing something else.”
Alexis laughed. “Is that how it went?” She asked playfully.
“It is my story. He was good but she needed spectacular. It just so happened that one of her friends was spectacular. His name was Jax. Jax and Alexis were married, accidentally. They were going to get divorced but something happened….” Jax trailed off.
