The Tyrant, or T-Virus, was created by the Umbrella Corporation's medical research staff to fight ageing and nerve-based diseased by the use of reanimating dead cells. It was also discovered that the virus possessed mass abilities for military usage. The effects of the virus on the living include the loss of the body's vital functions and an unstoppable instinct of cannibalism. The infected are commonly referred to as zombies due to the effects of the virus. The only way of preventing infection is an immediate injection of the Anti-Virus. After the initial stages, the only way to kill one of the infected is by severing the top of the spinal cord or massive trauma to the brain. The T-Virus has been implemented into Umbrella's experiment of creating the ultimate biological organic weapon.
