-Hummer-
A 6.5L, V8 turbo-charged
diesel engine is the heart of the H1, producing a there-when-you-need-it
430 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,800 rpm. In short, it's a monster.
But power is all but useless if you can't control it. So in
the H1, a whole host of elements come together in this area
to essentially keep "the rubber on the road." From
the 4-wheel independent suspension to the geared hubs, it's
all designed to give you the confidence you need to drive your
H1 virtually anywhere you want to go. Full-time 4WD is managed
both mechanically and electronically by the exclusive Torq Trac
4® System. TT4® uses a combination of ABS technology
and the Torsen II® limited slip torque-biasing differential
with a locking 2-speed transfer case to improve traction.
-Red Team Chopper: Black Hawk-
The UH-60 represented a
new generation in technology for performance, survivability
and ease of operation when introduced to replace the UH-1 as
the US Army's main squad-carrying helicopter. It has a four-blade
main rotor, which is tolerant up to 23 mm hits. Two pairs of
tail rotor blades fastened in crossbeam arrangement, mounted
to starboard. Transmission system is still operable for up to
30 minutes following total oil loss. Also includes crashworthy
fuel cells that are self sealing up to 7.62 mm (Thanks to Robert
Van Vleck - UH-60 System Instructor ) and armour-protected seats
for pilot and co-pilot. An External Stores Support System, with
conversion kits delivered from early 1986 allows the carriage
on four pylons of auxiliary fuel stores or weapons. The UH-60
is equipped to carry a crew of 3 and 11 troops. The cabin also
makes the UH-60 suitable for the medevac, reconnaissance or
troop resupply role and is also fitted with an external cargo
hook rated at 3629 kg (8,000 lb). The UH-60 can also be easily
airlifted with the use of kits designed by Sikorsky. The USAF's
Lockheed C-130 can carry one, C-141 can carry two, and the C-5
can carry six UH-60s. Following 1981 a YEH-60C prototype was
first flown on September 24 1981. This was equipped with 'Quick
Fix IIB' ECM to intercept, monitor, and jam enemy communications.
This involved the conversion of 40 UH-60As to EH-60C ECM/ESM
configuration. Under the US Army's Special Electronic Mission
Aircraft programme, an initial 132 EH-60Cs were to be built,
but later reduced to 66 helicopters.

-Blue Team Chopper: Huey-
After the success of the
Model 204, an improved version Model 205 was proposed in 1960
by the US Army. A contract followed in July 1960 for seven YUH-1D
service test helicopters. Although similar to the earlier Model
204, the Model 205 retained the Lycoming T53-L-11 turboshaft
engine, introduced a longer fuselage, increased cabin space
to accommodate more passengers as well as other changes. The
first YUH-1D was flown on August 16 1961 and the type was ordered
into production for the US Army with the designation UH-1D.
A total of 2,008 UH-1D were built for the US Army In addition
to military exports by Bell, a multi-role utility helicopter
for both civil and military use was extensively built in Italy
as the Agusta-Bell AB 205. Dornier in Germany completed 352
helicopters equivalent to the UH-1D, which serves with the Luftwaffe
and Heeresfliegertruppen. In Taiwan, AIDC built 118 helicopters
similar to the UH-1H for the Chinese Nationalist Army. In Japan,
Fuji continues to build the Model 205 as the Fuji-Bell HU-1H.
