Akyntoc
List of Cities
Leaders of Cities
World Map

Hello devs...this is the basic information I used to DM the campaign in Pen and Paper D&D.

As such, it doesnt all directly translate, and we can feel free to tweak it a bit. Populations of areas can vary for instance if you think its called for. The things that should stay the same:

When possible, names should stay the same.
The map should stay mostly the same.
The role of each urban area should stay the same.

Other than that, feel free to do whatever you think would result in a unique world. And if you have any questionable material, just post something in the guestbook and I will answer you ASAP.

The basic premises of the campaign are as follows:
1) Have fun being evil
2) Stylize the atrocious things that the human race has done. Persecution, slavery, drugs, prositition, etc.
We want people to pause as they speak to the barbarian tribe, and think..."This really happened to people, how horrible."
3) Set up a question of whether evil is evil just because they want to survive...which will come crashing down once Akyntoc comes and the evil forces begin doing things that are evil just for the sake of evil.

If you have any questions, just ask.

Old Construction Log Summary

Here is the playable demo. This is just for you guys to get the atmosphere a bit. When you start designing your sections, start your own module and we will export/import into the main one(So that we dont get a versions problem.)
The module

Currently we have 8 areas, with fully working area transitions, and some npcs. A few encounters if you can stumble across them (although they are quite hard at level 1). The driving plot npc is directly in front of you when you start. Ahead and to your right is a doppleganger that can provide you with xp/gold for testing purposes. There is a Yuan Ti mercenary to the left, she will join currently but not follow commands.

Once you have gotten some information, xp and gold. You can head far to the left to the market area to purchase some gear.

The Brothel is behind the temple that you see when you start.

Other than that I will just let you explore it.

There are a few unresolved issues:
1) The mercenary isnt quite working right
2) I am experimenting with using speed reduction to simulate the change in timescale when on the overland map. Theoretically, It should slow you down when you enter the zone, speed you up(to normal) in combat, slow you back down after combat, and return you to normal when you leave the zone. Not working perfectly as of yet.

City Building

It is highly recommended that everyone get all expansions and the Community Expansion Pack(CEP), if they don't have them already. They really add ALOT of new content.

We are sticking to about a 1:5 ratio on the population to NPC ratio. Due to the sheer massiveness of everything in a city, take the population size and divide it by 5 to see how many productive residents(excluding elderly, children, women.) are in the city. After this there will be about half that number in women, children, and elderly...Not exact accurate ratio of men to others, but most quests etc. are driven by male characters, the others are mostly just back ground and therefore shouldnt be swarming all over the place.
So for a city with a population of 100, there will be about 20 male NPCs and 10 others(female, children, elderly). You can feel free to diverge a little if you need a few more npcs for the effect you want but remember the purpose of your town and that every time you add 1 NPC you are increasing the population by 5...so be very wary of adding more that 5-10% more than the ratio tells you to use.

When you first do a city, flesh it out appearance-wise, then ask me(BJ) if there's anything special that needs to be in that city. For the most part you will have free reign, but there are certain levels of difficulty that we're looking for and we want to make sure its not too hard or too easy. Remember that these evil characters have to find some way to subdue these cities and bring them to their side. This can be from threatening to kill all of the women and children if they don't adhere, lying to them about who the "REAL" bad guys are, or maybe even doing a quest to prove themselves. All of those are options and it's your job to come up with lots more unique possibilities.

Comments: I am beginning on this Wood Cutting Hamlet, pop. 200-300.

ATTENTION: Hey guys, due to the sheer massiveness of everything in a city, take the population size and divide it by 5 to see how many able men are in the city. this does not include women or children. Therefore, this city, Eudith will have about 60 men in the actual city and surrounding areas. Add women and children and you're looking at 100+ bodies.

James - Give the town of Monar a try. It is a small mining town of about 100 to 200 productive residents(excluding elderly, children, women.)

We are sticking to about a 1:5 ratio on the population to NPC ratio. So this means your town will have about 20 to 40 NPCs to represent the population. Plus maybe 5-10 NPCs to represent the non productive residents(children, women, etc).

For the most part the residents are true neutral, just worried about thier community and not the welfare of the rest of the world. The largest population group would be human, followed by dwarf, and gnomes. Any others would certainly be limited to a single NPC resident.

The leader of the town is Andred Segwares, a Dwarven Fighter. Rule based for the most part on respect of his large knowledge of mining and how it helps the community.

Comments: Hi everyone.

Just posting to ask everyone what sort of things you wanted to work on for the project.

Art, Cities, Dungeons, NPCs, Items, AI scripting, etc.

Once I know what everyone would like to be working on I will give you some directions you can start looking into.
