(paladins current hot topic)

Organizing the paladins armies

1. During war, our guild will be split into more armies, each led by one commander, that will be chosen from the ranks of commanders and generals.

2. An "army" is consisted of 4 members + the leading commander.

3. Each of these armies will have its own distinctive name.

4. Once enlisted a soldier will be assigned his post in one of the available armies. The commanders of the armies, along with the soldiers decide the member distribution.

5. Before a war there might be (depending on each commander) a series of training days, in which the soldiers will acquire battle skills, under the supervision of the commander. How each training session will take place is entirely up to the commander. also, he may sub-organize his army as he sees fit, temporarily assigning new ranks to his soldiers, even choosing a second-in command etc.

6. Each army will have its own distinctive topic in the "battle academy" forum, where each member may express his opinions, desires etc; There will also be a topic relating all the armies;

7. Each soldier will receive a portion of the winnings in the event of a victory in the war, based on his rank in the guild, the number of kills and other important activities during the war.

Guild Wars

by Cristian Stefanescu

I tried to put down on paper some simple rules for the good evolution of a guild war, taking into consideration as many factors as possible. Still, this method has not been tested, so it's just a first solution, that i could come up with. I await all your opinions, critics and modification ideas you can come up with :)

The article has been split into the following chapters:

1. In the beginning
2. Divide...
3. And conquer
4. The aftermath
5. War rules
6. Glossary

1. In the beginning

When the two guild have agreed to start a war they will have to decide on the following things and notify its members as soon as possible:

a. The time and places the war will take place at, as well as the generals that will be leading each army (if this general changes before the war, this change must be communicated as soon as possible)

b. "The spoils of war": If agreed upon there will be a certain amount of money and/or items at stake for the victor; Vassaleage or indapendance wars may also be one idea in the future...

c. Both sides must agree on the "war rules" described in chapter 5.

2. Due to lag issues the guilds armies will not face each other on one battle field alone... Instead they will split their armies into smaller parts (each army can have up to 5 men (4 soldiers+ the leading general)... However the number of armies each guild has must not be identical. A guild can have as many armies as possible, as some of them may act as reinforcements. Thus, only two armies will face each other on a field, but when one of them has been defeated entirely, another may take its place. An army may also retreat before it is completely destroyed and regroup behind the "battle lines" (see glossary) (refreshing its ranks with recruits from reinforcements); One soldier however may not be replaced as soon as he will die as it is hard to keep evidence of this. An army can only reinforce the field as a whole and it may only retreat entirely as well.

3. When the battle on a field has been disputed (all enemies lie dead or have routed behind the "battle lines" (see glossary) the victorious army receives one "victory point" (see glossary) and then will begin its march to the final battlefield. When all remaining armies on both sides have gathered here the generals will meet in the centre for a final discussion before the final battle. Here they will use their "victory points" and after the new soldiers arrive and take their place among the ranks of the armies, they will "sound the attack" (see glossary).

4. When all enemies are dead or have retreated behind the "battle lines" of the final battle field, the surviving guild is declared victorious. The opposite army leader must confirm the victory and then the guild war will end. The leading generals will meet soon after to settle the "spoils of war" affair.

5. a. Death is permanent, meaning that during the course of the war (which should not be more than 2 hours) every member that has fallen will stay in death realm, or log out entirely; however, if he stays in death realm he is allowed to communicate to anyone he desires. A soldier may return from death realm during the war only through a "victory point".
b. If an army has not sounded the retreat and a soldier joins the fight, this will be considered cheating! Once an army has sounded the retreat (which simply consist in the act of running behind the battle line, no message will be taken into consideration) the enemy is still allowed to hunt them until they crossed that line, when they are considered at safety until they rejoin the battle. The soldiers on the other side of the battle lines may not aid their brethren in any way during a retreat. Remember though, that if one man has not crossed the battle line, this is not considered a full retreat and that man may still be killed and no reinforcements can be sent to aid him. Once retreated an army is not allowed to start another attack for 2 minutes and an army is only allowed three maximum retreats before the field is considered lost by them! I know this sounds confusing, but i hope it will be a decent way of handling wars...

6. "battle lines" - the imaginary line where reinforcements wait and armies regroup; after three retreats the field is considered lost; the surviving men may not be hunted down though and they will start their march to the final battle field.
"victory points" - achieved by capturing a battle field, they can be used before the final battle to bring back from death realm warriors. One victory point = 1 warrior.
"sound the attack" - before the beginning of a battle (even the first ones, not only the final one) the generals will meet in the centre (all of them)... after the discussion ends and they decide which armies will face each other first, they will return to the battle lines. The one that will lead the first attack will have to shout "CHARGE" or "ATTACK"... the other general will have to reply with the same line... After that they may begin the attack and enter the field. Every time an army goes into battle the process repeats itself (though they will only meet at the centre once, before the first battle)

And that just about wraps it up... I know it's still a little chaotic, but hopefully, together we can make something practical out of all of this... I await your opinions.

War draft

I opened this in the forum in order to begin organizing our military department. So, anyone who wants to take part in guild wars from now on will have to enlist at the forum, by posting a reply in the form of a recruitment form, as shown below:
