Description:
The Ontos Heavy Tank is an older design, hailing from the Succession Wars. With it's LRM15 rack, SRMs, and vast array of lasers, the Ontos is a deadly threat to medium and light mechs. As a matter of fact, that's precisely what it's made for. The Ontos Heavy Tank is a fairly armored tank made for the destruction of smaller mechs and even infantry armor. Ontos' are generally deployed alongside other, bigger tanks, or as an escort to convoys. Heavily armored, these things can take a beating.
The Ontos, however, has a slight disadvantage. Namely, it lacks weapons that can take out the larger mechs. That's why the Ontos generally travels with different tanks- it can take out the light and medium mechs easily enough, especially with the Artemis IV FCS, but it can't normally hold it's own against heavier opponents. Also, drivers are advised not to fire all of their lasers at once, or they'll overheat. Stagger-fire the lasers. As with all tanks, the Ontos enjoys a small profile on the battlefield, making it a bit difficult for some mechs to hit; and also, making it an effective rammer.
