Final
Fantasy XI Beta Testing going Live

PlayOnline has recently updated their Final Fantasy
XI site with a new live webcam. Plus a new Final Fantasy
XI section. But instead of raunchy scenes from someone's
living room, this unique webcam actually depicts beta
testing from within Final Fantasy XI's online world,
Vana'diel. Every ten seconds, the camera takes a screen
shot from the PlayOnline server with a beta version
of Final Fantasy XI running.
At its debut, nothing but
an empty landscape could be scene. However, it wasn't
long before the action started. Beautifully rendered
characters can be seen running around, visually stunning
magic spells are cast, and it is also apparent that
the atmosphere can change from day to night. At one
point, one of the human characters even waved at the
camera.
So go check out the webcam at PlayOnline,
but also Square says the camera will go offline from
time to time during testing.
