"Every man has three characters: that which he shows, that which he has, and that which he thinks he has."

-- Alphonse Karr, French journalist (1808-1890)

A Play of Vanity: those protagonists who can only try in vain to alter there lowly lots in life

At the base of all spines of society rest the weary backs of those who work to keep it up. It is a thankless task, but one done with joy and pride. For only they can keep the world moving with their efforts. The machines are simply the muses to their designs, helping to guide their constructs on to better things. In this manner, all these members are simply toys of the gods. To be watched and toyed with, and to be punished and trod upon for transgressions. A depressing state of affair, yes, but that is life.
