After the lands were divided, the Elven Empire was left scarred and destroyed. Much of the elven power was derived from the power of nature in the One Forest, and this was split along with the rest of the continent. The elves retreated into what remained of their once beautiful towns and cities, and apparently sunk into a deep depression. Perhaps they felt responsible for unleashing chaos on the world, or felt guilty for dividing the lands. Whatever their reason, the elves refused any contact for many centuries.
Meanwhile, the human race was prospering on all four new continents, by all accounts. More numerous due to their shorter lifespan and far more adaptable than either dwarf, elf, or giant, they were far better suited to the new world that had been created. But evil was still rampant in the lands of Telandron, and Orc and Troll marauder bands roamed attacking almost at will. Human leaders began to conquer lands from each other and owners of different races and began to build the foundations for the world as we know it today.
On the central continent, the rulers built great castles and watchtowers to defend themselves against attacks. They constructed walled cities for the citizens to live in. Crops were plentiful from the fertile ground. The military forces of the southern area pushed the dwarfs and giants back to the high mountains, and the elves back to the dark forest in the east. Tall, broad humans, rumoured to have descended from giant stock, settled in the north, soon to be named the Northlands, where they were under constant attack from the creatures who lived there.
On the continent to the far east, a similar sequence of events had occurred, only because of a higher concentration of people to land the battles were fiercer as men fought for land. The nation of Kul was formed, and various tribes populated the land. Each tribe was ruled by a chieftain, each constantly looking to the others with jealousy or hatred, seeking to gain advantage of the other.
On the southern continent reports came back to the Irigarn (central) continent that massive deposits of gold had been found, and was being put to good use. Again nations were being carved out here, and great cities were being built.
In contrast, after limited reports from traders in the first twenty years following the dividing of the lands, all contact between the western continent and the rest of the world was abruptly cut off. All merchant-ships travelling west disappeared without a trace. Expeditions were mounted to find out what had become of them, which too vanished. Soon the rulers decided that whatever fate had fallen on the western continent should be left alone, and nothing was heard of the continent for many centuries.
