At the beginning of the game, all that it is necessary to do is select your character's name, and race, for example a person might say that his character is an Elf, named Fyordan. Although this is not mandatory, you might also want to create a background for your character. Be sure to keep within the boundaries of the game, and your selected class.Your character starts in one of the cities. Note that there are restrictions in this: humans can go almost anywhere, being counted generally as an unscrupulous, but there are places where elves, for instance, would be killed on sight, and the same for Renegade Dwarves.
Think carefully about your choices. You can't change from good to evil, or vice versa, so consider. Some classes will have obvious bonuses, but not-so-obvious disadvantages. To start off with, I would recommend a human, as it is the most versatile class. You can basically learn anything, or do anything, where other races have restrictions.
Before you submit your character, it is absolutely essential that you check out the Rules and the Playing Guide on guidelines on how to play. The former could save your status in Telandron, and the latter could mean you get ahead when others falter, or stay with the pack instead of being left behind.
Post your character details on the Adventurer's Guild forum, which is where all the signing-in is done, when you've finished. Your character will be checked over, and modifications may be needed to ensure that your character fits in within the boundaries of your race and Telandron itself.
Example Character:
Name: Fyordan
Race: Elf
Nationality: Kthulian (Tan Kthol, allegiance to Kaylon)
Character: Good
Weapon: Longsword
Background: A dyadherel (see here) from the western shores of Tan Kthol. Being tired of the restricting clan life of the elves, Fyordan decided to go to Thal Kol to seek his fortune.
More information on your character sheet etc. is in the Black Lobster forum, or you could look at other peoples' examples in the Adventurers' Guild forum.
