The Creation
This is the most popular creation story, as told by most scholars around the Kaylonic continent. Most nations have similar stories, only slightly different; for instance Kul has Nagharos playing the largest part, as opposed to Titan. Some of the smaller barbarian tribes, however, have very different versions: most of which can only be found by journeying to their lands.
In the beginning there was nothing; except the essence of the gods. As they gradually became sentient, they realised they must have a place for themselves; and so all the gods joined their powers and created Eterna, or as some call it "Garden of the Gods".
After a while again they began to grow restless, for while Eterna was beautiful far beyond mortal reckoning, it was its very beauty that began to bore the gods. There was no struggle; everything that could be wanted was there, no work needed to be done, no fun to be had... and soon the Pantheon's eyes began to tire of the endless beauty. So having thought about it for some time, Titan, Overlord of the gods, sent forth his immense power and created a new world.
Unlike Eterna, which could be likened to a single, huge plain, this place was a globe; and it hung in the endless space beyond Eterna. To light it by day the gods created a huge ball of blazing light; and to illuminate it by night two lesser balls of light. The gods could now start their work on the new world. Valayan, eldest son of Titan, created sea and land, divisions in between them, and air for the new world. Then the wife of Titan, Vitae, created life; a gift from the new world. In doing so, she had to give away a great part of herself, but her sacrifice will always be remembered. And so life began to spring up on the land and in the sea and air created by Valayan. The other gods, sons of Titan, gave their gifts to the new beings; honour, justice, love, instinct, knowledge, and strength. The creatures grew up healthy, wise, and intelligent. Only Nagharos, brother of Titan, held himself aloof from the project, saying it was foolhardy and a waste of time, and did not even deign to visit the new world, staying in Eterna. Mystified, the other gods, caught up in their creation, left Nagharos to his own devices.
In those days the gods walked freely among their creations, and all knew them for what they were. They were worshipped, but their rule was not of iron: they left many choices up to their creations.
