They comprised mainly of the younger sons of the noblemen, men who would not rule but had a high degree of training and chivalry nonetheless. This training was further refined and included the uses of heavy armour and riding.

To this day the Elite Knights are probably the best single unit in the known world. They have great honour and the best equipment. However there are few of them, and at the moment there are perhaps 300 in total. They are divided into 3 orders:

Order of the Rose
Order of the Unicorn
Order of the Heart

All have approximately 100 Knights.

Training for the Knights is long and vigoruous, and involves many tests. You may be rejected many times, but once you get in you are a member of the most revered unit in Telandron.

The current Grandmaster is Tiguan de Ikpaal, who has been with the order for over 30 years. He rose to the Grandmastership soon after the First Kulian War, where the previous Grandmaster was slain by a War Demon summoned by the foremost magician of Kul.

Unlike the other two orders, the Order of the Unicorn will accept anybody who passes the various tests, commoner, merchant or noble. The other two will accept only those who are of suitably high birth. This has led to some disagreement between the three orders, but the Unicorn stood firm.
