- Stat Guide -

This page is made to help explain what each stat does.

Your characters' statistics (stats for short) determine how they interact and performs in the game. Because it determines how well your character is, most players stress the fact of how important perfect/high stats are. Most people wont even use a character unless it has at least 3 or more perfect stats for it's race. One point of strength or endurance can make or break a fight and you may be glad/sorry that you paid that little extra for the perfect stat/settled for the lower stat to save a little cash.
But always remember, the basic factor that affects everything that happens in the game and is more important than anything else is: Luck. Even if your character has all perfect stats, sometimes they will still lose fights and even if your character has no perfect stats sometimes they will still win fights. How good a character is/does is determined by stats, equipment, player's skill, and most of all luck.

  • Strength - Str -
Represents the physical power of your character. Strength is directly related to the amount of damage that your character can/will do. It also adds in the phrase "He looks incredibly strong," "He has a muscular build", or "He is slim and slightly built" into your "look" description depending on what your str is.

  • Intelligence - Int -
Determines a Spellcaster's effectiveness in casting spells. The higher your int, the less likely you are to "fizzle" when attempting to cast a spell. It also increases the length of spells and damage you do with direct damage spells and the amount you heal for with healing spells. A Rogues' ability to hide and sneak and any character's ability to search are also affected by your intelligence. The higher your int the more likely you are to be able to avoid others finding you or to find others that are avoiding you. Disarming traps (Thieves only) is also affected by intelligence. If your intelligence is very high, it adds the phrase "Aramoug's eyes shine with intelligence" into your "look" description.

  • Agility - Agi -
Agility is a very important statistic that helps your character hit more successfully and dodge or parry attacks. It also affects a Thief's chance of successfully stealing. Agility is also important for thieves as it helps you to pick locks and disarm traps. If your agility is high, it also adds the phrase "His movements are quick and agile" into your "look" description.

  • Endurance - End -
Determines how much physical stamina your character has and how much damage can be taken before your character is killed. Endurance is directly related to the amount of hit points your character receives with each level. Endurance is also important for resisting poisons and magical attacks. Berserkers recieve an additional 2 hit points every level, which is essentially the same as +1 endurance. Here is a table of the hit points a level 25 character will have with each end.
    EndHit Points
    22 825
    21 800
    20 750
    19 724
    18 675
    17 649
    16 600
    15 574
    14 525
    13 499
    12 450
Anything less than 12 endurance will give you the same HP as 12.

  • Wisdom - Wis -
Wisdom is a measure of your character's common sense and judgement. Wisdom helps to determine your magic resistance and affects some spellcasting abilities. It is believed that Wisdom also effects the amount of magic points, or mana that a spellcaster has. A Druid's animorph is greatly affected by the wisdom statistic. It gives the caster a stat bonus and also an armor bonus whose values are both directly affected by wisdom. The stat bonus increases the druid's strength and agility and the armor bonus increases the druid's armor.
    WisdomStat BonusArmor Bonus
    22 +9 +27
    21 +8 +24
    20 +8 +24
    19 +7 +21
    18 +6 +18
    17 +5 +15
Anything below 17 wisdom gives +5 to stats and +15 to armor.

  • Charisma - Chr -
Charisma is a general rating of your character's physical looks, personality, and charm. High charisma is especially important to Druids and Rangers, as it helps determine the success of taming and charming non-player characters. Druids and Paladins require a minimum of 16 charisma to even be chosen as a class. Depending upon what your chr is, it also adds the phrase "He is extremely attractive", "He is rather average looking", or "He is somewhat ugly" into your "look" description.

  • Hit Points - HP - Hits - Life
This is the amount of life your character has. It is directly determined by endurance and level. Once your character takes damage equal to or greater than his HP he dies. Berserkers have increased HP.

  • Mana - Mana Points - MP -
Magic Points are used whenever a player casts a spell. Certain spells cost different amounts of MP. The amount of MP you have is directly related to your level, your class, and your wisdom. Characters who can not cast spells will always have 0 MP. Your mana will recharge slowly whenever you are logged on at a rate of about 1 point per round or 5 points per round if you are in your temple. You can refill your mana by using items such as "Manastones".

  • Armor - AC -
Armor is directly affected by the equipment your character is wearing. Body Armor, Helmet, and Shield can all increase your armor. Some classes, like monks/ninjas, have a natural armor bonus even when not wearing any equipment. There are also some spells that increase your armor (example: stoneskin, haste, animorph). A higher armor makes it more difficult for other players/monsters to hit you when attacking and also reduces the damage that they do when they hit. Having over 100 armor is usually considered to be really high.

  • Level - lvl -
The level of your character shows how experienced he/she is throughout the realms. All players begin at level 1 and currently the maximum level that can be obtained is 25. When a character gets to level 25 it resets his level to 1, but he is still considered to be a "25er" or a character that is level 25. The higher your level the better your character is. Every aspect of your character increases with your level.

  • Experience - exp -
This shows the exact amount of experience your character currently has. A certain amount of experience is required before you can successfully train to gain a level up. The experience tables can be found Here. Once a character reaches level 25, his experience is reset to 0.

  • THAC0 -
The so called "hidden stat" that people talk about. THAC0 stands for "To Hit Armor Class 0" and is a term taken from D&D. In RoK it is constant depending upon your level and class and it directly affects your hit rate. It is the only stat that the players can not see, but staffers can.
