A Tunnels and Trolls® play-by-post adventure run by khara_khang
(Gratuitous intro for my character)
A man sits at a stool at the end of the bar. He is wearing a brown robe, with the hood down. He is a small, somewhat slender looking human, with a touch of elf somewhere in his ancestry. He looks to the Barkeep, "Another ale, please."
The barkeep quirks an eyebrow, "I think you've had plenty. Who do you think you are, anyway?" Indeed, the man seems plastered.
It looks as though he were waiting for that, "Glad you have asked." He stands up, "I am the Sorcerer of the Thousand isles, Keeper of Knowledge Khara Khang himself was not meant to know." At this point the lights of the room dim, "I am he who has challenged Khazan and won. I am the great and powerful Tosal Thoth!", and promptly falls over, passed out.
The barkeep takes one look at him, "Right. Pull the other one, it has bells on."
Tosal Thoth snores...

Tosal Thoth stands from his slumber, and returns to his stool. He decides this would be a good time to ingratiate himself to the locals, and he has some spare cash, "I'm buying the next round for everyone!"
An average looking human in black and gold wizardly robes who had been sleeping in a chair along the back wall wakes up suddenly. Walking over beside Tosal he sits down on a barstool. "You buying huh... thanks! Havn't seen my lackey around here anywhere have you? He's a little pug-nosed Hobbit... oh well." Sipping my newly delivered mug of pig piss swill ale I look at the stranger once again. I take it you are not from around here are you? Strangers only come here for one thing, to join adventuring groups!"
"Well, now that youu mention it, I am indeed looking for the company of those whose paths take them on the road of adventuring. And no, I haven't seen your lackey, but you may want to check the stew, tonight's pot luck night."
"No, I'm not worried about Shipy being in the stew, we already checked and his head won't fit in the pot. Besides no one ever eats the stew around here except newcomers <grin>. Joining up with a group eh? Anyone I know?"
"Actually, I am looking for a group which would have me, and looks to be promising. What I've found so far was at least seven groups who looked, well, for wont of a better word, hopeless."
"Oh there are several really good groups who work out of the Blue Frog Tavern." I pause to take a drink. "I'm sure you will do well with any group you join that you find here. I know most of them, and I have even adventured with a few of them. Let me check your future."
Pulling a small magical black 8-ball from my robes I shake it and turn it over and wait for its answer to float to the top of the tiny see thru peep hole. I hold it over to where the stanger can also read it. It says; "Your future looks bright!"
Smiling I put the black 8-ball away.
Kaz crawls out from under the table, eyes bloodshot, cloak wrinkled, and peers around the smoky interior of the Tavern.
The orc barmaid slaps him stingingly as she sashays past, thinking he is trying to peek up her skirt.
Kaz sighs heavily and stands to his feet. The hangover seems to be gone, and with the return of sanity comes the memory of an astronomical bar tab.
He sits down at the bar, chin resting on his hands as he wonders if his friends have managed to retrieve the sword, or if doomsday is imminent.
[Kazashima refers to a grand side adventure, partially lost in The Great Website Holocaust™ of '00, called Ca'junn the Blackened Sword. --ed.]

Tosal Thoth continues his inebriated ramblings, having long ago passed into the pleasant clouds of intoxication. "You know, thash just how it goes. One day, you're the greatesht wizard this world hash ever kn, no, known, and he next they shtrip you of yer power, all onnacountof the fact that I never made a dungeon. They tellsh me, Toshal Thoth, you're supposed to be a great an pow, powe, powerfulwizard, sho where'sh your dungeon? You know you haveta have one. And sho I tell'sh 'em no one told me that, and they shaysh it doeshn't matter, I shudda known allready. Sho they take my shtaff from me, had a knob onna end an everyhin, and they casht a powerful shpell onme, making me mortal again, an' stripped me of my powersh and knowledge, telling me to shatrt all overagain. Bloody bashtards, thelottathem."
"Here, take my ale, I think you need it worse than I do!"
(A strange interlude)
(Domina's stats)
Perhaps the GM might elaborate upon any other demonic abilities and/or weaknesses she might possess; for example, infravision seems logical.
(Desuma's stats)
Perhaps the GM might elaborate upon the mechanics of her stoning ability. BTW, I have always considered gorgons to be human females which are the recipients of a curse passed from mother to daughter, which is why Common may be considered her native tongue. If you have a different take on this I'd love to hear it.
A small three foot tall bare-chested green skinned Gremlin approaches each of your characters regard of where you are or what you are doing. "Here this is fur yu'!" He hands you a small invitation on a leaf shaped piece of paper.
On it, it reads, "Adventurer... Meet in the Common Room at The Blue Frog Tavern on the morning of Feastday to join the Lizardmen In Red Water Bay group."
Tosal Thoth recieves the message and stands from his barstool, thankfully no longer drunk. "I must go!", he says, and he begins concentrating. After several minutes, he realises he can't do that anymore, and instead walks out, and heads off towards the Blue Frog Tavern, wondering what the purpose of this missive was.
Dude, you were in the Blue Frog Tavern.
Barkeep, that's enough beers for ol' Tosal.
Actually no, as stated before, I was in a different tavern (the Puce Leprecaun) Pay attention. <falls over in drunken torporence>
Making their way to the back room of the tavern, Jax consoles his brother.
<click, schlorp, click>
"Need a turn with it, T?"
"Makin' your way in the world today, takes everything you got..."
And sometimes, more than what you've got. Thanks for the brain, bro.
<click, schloop, click>
Ah, it all makes sense to me now.
Okay, its not Friday, but its close enough. For those of you who do not know, the "Common Room" is a meeting room in the back of The Blue Frog Tavern. It is also a T&T web site (but that's another story); in this game it's just a meeting room.
Re: Turning flesh to stone: Doing some research on this subject I've come to the conclusion the ability itself comes from the eyes and not looking upon the face. A perfect example being the old movie 'Clash Of The Titans'. If you watch it take special note of her glowing eyes. You must remember friends and enemies are just as easily turned to stone. Depending on their location and proximity to you will determine their level of SR to avoid being turned to stone if you use this ability willy nilly.
Re: Domina's abilities/hindrances: Night Vision, Strength reduced to half while on holy ground, Reduced damage from fire/cold, You receive extra damage from pure iron weapons, Reduced damage from poisons.
Jack de Crampon's abilities: Night Vision, Half-damage from edged weapons, Regeneration, The ability to detach and reattach self.
Walking into the Blue Frog Tavern and not even pausing he crosses the room heading straight into the tavern's back room often referred to as the 'Common Room'. The man I speak of is a very finely dressed human in his mid-thirties.
Entering the Common Room the young man clears his throat and looks around at the odd assortment of adventurers gathered there. "I'm sorry but the wizard Grutoss could not attend himself today, so he sent me to fill in. My name is Cobalt. I am Grutoss's apprentice. I assume everyone here will be joining the Lizardmen In Red Water Bay adventure then?" Smiling slightly Cobalt adjusts his collar and continues.
Pulling a small paper from his pocket he begins reading from it; "O, my love is like a red, red rose, that's newly sprung...." Cobalt looks up at everyone and blushes a light shade of red. "Sorry, wrong note, heh, heh." Digging in his pocket he pulls out a second note and begins reading it. "Khazan we do not wish to destroy thee as time only seeks to gain. The Lizardmen In Red Water Bay intend to reclaim what is due us in the form of a time storm. Let a wise man fly away and a knave fool run away! Red Water Shaman Ralathor."
Cobalt looks around as if to answer any questions so far....
"So the lizardmen mean to reclaim the Khazan region? I take it our assistance is being requested?"
Jax shifts his weight, pondering the references to time in Ralathor's warning. "Hmm, and another question would be, 'When?'"
Happy to hear the bevy of questions, Cobalt is interrupted as the Hobbit Shipy bursts into the room and races across it saying "I have to pee, I have pee," before exiting the back door into the alley.
Composing himself again Cobalt says, "Yes Mr. Tosal, thousands of Lizardmen are on the move, exactly why we don't know for sure, nor do we know exactly what the 'Time Storm' is, which was mentioned. Yes your assistance is greatly needed."
"Again, we do not know the when but we do know the where. A report came in last night that the cities Tally and Granre are both under siege by several thousand Lizardmen. The cities Tavia and Stonemin also report numerous Lizardmen sightings. Your group needs to find out who or what is behind the Lizardmen's sudden and unprovoked attacks."
Reaching into his pocket Cobalt produces a map. Walking over to Tosal, Cobalt gives him the map.
Cobalt waits for yet more questions....
The sniper orc looks at the map. "Hm, last time I dealt with some lizard men it was a long time ago."
Does this adventure take place in the same dimension as the Khazan that was invaded by the Lizardmen from Ken's old M!M! game, and is inserted into his Trollworld timeline on his website? Or is this an alternate Khazan. I know I'm being a stickler for details, but hey, I like to fit everything together.
"If we're to find out the source and the motivation of the attacks, we need some more reports from the field. Are there known areas of the land where the lizardmen have traditionally kept house? In which case, they've decided to wander west to cause trouble? Or have they just mysteriously appeared in the area?"
"I knew you'd have a nose for sniffing out the details of this adventure, bro," the elder orc muses.
Taran recalls his days as a lizard, and then as an orc with a lizard head and lizard nose. "Not funny, swamp breath."
The brothers wait for anyone to offer intelligence on the area vis-a-vis the lizard population.
"I have another question. What exactly is it that you wish us to do? Are we to fend off the lizard men ourselves, or was there something else in mind? If so, what exactly?"
If you want this to fit into Ken's timeline then thats fine with me.
Happy to answer more questions Cobalt says, "Yes, the Lizardmen have traditionally kept below the road to the city of Tally, in the Red Water Swamp and the lower part of the Mistywood Forest. Again, yes, they are moving west and north. No, they haven't just mysteriously appeared. But they have started moving over the past few weeks, and have began killing and pillaging anyone they encounter. The wizard Grutoss estimates their numbers around 40,000 give or take a few."
Shipy the Hobbit enters the back door and crosses the room and says, "Don't mind me, I feel much much better now." The Hobbit continues on into the bar. Cobalt frowns at the Hobbits second intrusion.
"Oh, no Tosal, fighting the Lizardmen openly would only get you killed. I want your group to go there, even join the Lizardmen if need be and find out what exactly is going on and who is in charge. The Lizardmen are employing bandits and mercenaries of all races, so you can fit right in if you play the part. More questions?"
"Forgive me for being a bit gauche, but I'll get right to the point. What is the payment offered for our services?", Tosal Thoth asks as he refills his pipe. (Given the nature of some of his earlier ramblings, a wise man would probably not venture to guess what is in the pipe)
Jack claps his jaws together, laughing cacophanously, and throws back the drink in front of him. The sandy brown ale trickles down his spine, behind his ribs and on to the floor making a fine mess for some poor serving lassie to deal with. He looks at Cobalt playfully through his hollow sockets.
"Lizardmen? Indeed! Not an ounce of class between them, is there? Payment or not I think we owe it to ourselves to rid the realm of them. Think of the publicity!!!" he gushes.
He scratches his head pensively. "Can't see myself 'joining' them, mind you. The smell'd put me into a swoon I'm sure."
Re: Turning flesh to stone: Does this mean her gaze must be met, or will simply looking at someone turn them to stone?
Re: Domina's abilities/hindrances: Does "holy ground" associate with any religion, or only those which are of a "good" nature?
"I've noticed that the wording of Ralathor's message is a little odd. Do you know how well he speaks the Common Tongue?"
(After receiving a reply) "What can you tell us about Ralathor?"
(After receiving a reply) "Both Domina and I are low on supplies and without enough money between us to buy a used waterskin. Will you bankroll us?"
