KELLY GRIEVED
Level 1 Human Cleric
Kelly Grieved (not her real name) was raised as part of a
noble family in Weckhaven. She was brought up with all the local traditions
and expectations of a girl of noble birth, being taught to remain chaste
and to display the proper etiquette.
One day Kelly and her brother Marcus were exploring a
cranberry bog on the edge of their family lands... an area which was also
adjacent to the 'wild areas' of the island. Ambushed by goblins, Kelly was
captured, but her brother escaped. Marcus ran pell-mell back to the family
manor after wetting his pants. Ashamed of his cowardice, he lied and said
that Kelly had been kidnapped by armed men from a nearby plantation with
whom their family had poor relations. A group of adventurers was sent in to
investigate.
It seemed like a classic 'damsel-in-distress' story, all the
group had to do was rescue Kelly from the evil humanoids. But Marcus's tale
about the kidnapers distracted them, and by the time the truth came out, it
was too late for Kelly.
Although the adventurers were able to rescue Kelly and save
her life, she suffered cruelly at the hands of the rapacious goblins.
Beaten and tortured, she was brought back to the family manor.
While Kelly recovered physically from her ordeal, the mood
around her had changed. When it became clear that she could no longer be
considered 'chaste', and was therefore less valuable as marriage bait, the
attitude towards her cooled.
Outraged by the unfair treatment, Kelly renounced her family
name and took the title 'Grieved' instead. She left the island and journeyed
south, eventually seeking sanctuary in a temple of The Healer. She now
journeys to help others who have been treated unfairly.
Kelly is a small woman, only a little over 5 feet tall. She
has a refined demeanor and speaks in a very proper manner. She is
considered pretty by traditional standards, with dark brown shoulder-length
hair, deep brown eyes, and fair skin. She has a strong line to her jaw, and
pronounced cheekbones.
She often appears very
serious, sometimes even angry.
