DAHN-GERDUNE

Level 1 High Orc Paladin

Dahn was born to two high orcs, Gerdune and Mrishna, in a hut deep in the woods southeast of Ganikazal. His parents were posing as normal orcs at the time, out of both fear of Anzon's wrath returning and because his father was a warrior, and his face was ill welcome in the refined city. His pride would not allow him to walk the streets with his head hung each day, so he took his wife Mrishna and settled in the forest. When he was only eleven years of age his father was badly wounded defending a caravan from trolls, and he was forced to take up his father’s sword to kill food for his mother to cook, as well as go in search of herbs for his medicines. One night when he was seeking such an herb he got lost. By morning he had found himself on the opposite bank of the river bordering Gieyada's west face. He entered the city, slightly in awe as this was the first town he had ever seen, and it was quite large. He unknowingly met Gaella, one of the council members of the city. She directed him back to his home as well as rations to sustain him. Upon reaching his parent's hut that evening, he found his father dead. His wounds had bled too much and the infections were too deep to be healed by the medicine his mother had made. To honor his soul, and having felt that the entire ordeal was his fault, Dahn took on his father's name. Though his full name is now Dahn-gerdune, most people still use his given name to address him.

Since his father was gone, and his mother was nothing more than a novice herbalist incapable of defending the home in which they lived, she took Dahn and moved to Ganikazal. He helped her run a small alchemists shop in the marketplace. In his time within the city he learned how to deal with people, something he had had no such experience with previously, and even became somewhat adept at speaking with people and deriving information which he sought. He was also able to gain access to the rich libraries of tomes and scrolls flowing through the markets. He became deeply interested in religion, which neither of his parents had subscribed to, and the council governments that had existed for his entire life but he had similarly had no contact with.

When he was age seventeen his mother passed away of old age and pneumonia. Dahn took his mother out to the hut, now in ruin from not being cared for and having sat through years of weather, and buried her beneath the foundation where they had laid his father to rest. He took what little money that had been left behind by his mothers business and moved forward to Caday. In his new home he found Teru, a god which seemed to call to his very soul. Under the teaching of various holy warriors and priests, Dahn was initiated into paladin-hood nearly immediately after his calling was seen. He used Padisev as a role-model for his actions, always one step behind him, striving to be his equal. He set aside the sword of his father, though he still has it in a sheath over his back, and took up a heavy mace in honor of his new path toward Teru's blessing. Soon he used nearly all of the remaining money his mother had left him to purchase armor and equipment which he would use to go in his quest for purity. Under the guide of the priests and paladins of Caday's temple of Teru, Dahn set out to seek injustices to be amended. He is now twenty-one years of age, and eager to take on the problems of the world.

Dahn's skin is a pale grey. His nose is narrow and long, like that of humans as opposed to orcs. He has a spark in his light grey eyes that seems shows his hallow soul. His hair is fine and long, combed neatly back to end in a deep black ponytail that rests between his shoulders. His lower fangs still show, but just barely, making his lip bulge over them and his lower jaw jut out. He wears fine white robes, but ties them tightly around his body as to not restrict his movements. He wears his chain beneath the cloth and hides his mace under the robe. In all respects he looks like a priest, his holy symbol hung from a cord about his neck. The only sign that he has any intention of partaking of combat at all is that his buckler, ever on his forearm, is always visible, for he hems the sleeves of his robes so that they do not get in

the way of his arms when he is in battle.
