The party has escaped the citadel with Falin and no one else dead but is in dire need of healing and memorization of spells.  The party sets up camp in the woods a few hundred yards from the portal.  About six hours into the night, the portal comes alive again.  Many men on horseback leading wagons laden with booty from the countryside burst forth.  The raiders must be abandoning the citadel!  Now is the party's chance, the citadel will be almost empty and they will have a free reign of the place.

After waiting a few hours to ensure the raiders would not return the party goes in to clear out the citadel.  A great many treasures are gathered and a nasty drow elf princess is released, much to the chagrin of Samo and Falin.  The party does discover one resident that refuses to leave.  A mad old man locked in a room.  He rewards the party for releasing him by declaring "The vial of acid is cold in the sunshine???"  and dumps out a small treasure for the party to take.  The party returns to Ashenbedford with their sacks overflowing and with the rewarding experience of their adventures.

Once in town, the party meets a beautiful woman who introduces herself as Lady Elaine.  She wants the prates' help in finding her lost father, Sir Timoth.  The party agrees and begins the three day journey to where Sir Timoth's castle is located, in Cuthder.  In the town, the party comes across lady Elaine once again and she offers 1000gp to each surviving member of the party that returns to her news of her father.  The party can otherwise only get information out of the town drunk - Johnn Mason.

The trip to Timoth's castle is short and not well traveled, it seems to frighten the townsfolk and rightfully so.  After busting into the lobby of the small keep the party stumbles upon a room with a blackened corpse lying on a couch.  In this room, the cracks in the stone and corners are all afire with hot flame.  As they investigate, the party is attacked by a pair of hell hounds.  During the battle, which once again has Samo poke 'em in da bum, the entire room seems to shift to the plane of Hell and then back.  Once the hell hounds are defeated the party moves on but opening the far door only reveals an endless expanse of desert.
