Seifer

We first meet Seifer during the opening scene of the game and later discover he is in fact an eminent rival of Squall’s. As the game progresses, it is easy to see why; as he goes around making snide comments and creating enemies left, right and centre, including with other characters Quistis, Selphie and Zell. His only true friends are the members of his posse, Raijin and Fujin, who follow him round, clearly idolising him and thus obeying every command he throws out. Seifer’s last straw is dealt when he joins forces with the enigmatic yet dangerous sorceress Edea (rather Ultimecia in Edea’s shell), and a percentage of fic writers tend to concentrate on the idea of him returning as a possible equal to Garden, after having turned against it and its inhabitants when he launched an attack at it. The other percentage concentrate on giving him a love life…
It does become clear as the plot unfolds that Seifer once had a romantic connection with Rinoa when she was merely sixteen, this being the reason for his strong will to help her and the Forest Owls in their fight against the Deling President. However it is in fact Squall who replaces him in this role as hero to Rinoa, since Seifer fails to make SeeD, yet this does not stop his profound efforts to help her out, as he continues to do so in his own unruly until being taken in by the sorceress.
Seifer is last seen at the docks in Balamb town, fishing with his posse reunited. His smile is a satisfactory one when watching Garden fly overhead, leaving the doors open for all fic writers, especially those who like to reveal a change in Seifer and make him the repentant fallen hero of the story. Often seen as the loveable rogue, Seifer is definitely a bad boy but one to whom it is hard not to be drawn.
