Supported Languages
- WordPad for Windows 2000 or XP fully supports all European and
Asian languages that you have fonts and keyboard layouts for.
- WordPad for Windows ME fully supports all European and Middle
Eastern languages that you have fonts and keyboard layouts for. It can display Chinese,
Japanese and Korean (CJK) but it does not support Microsoft's
global input method
editors. You may type CJK in Outlook Express or Mozilla and then copy and paste the text into
WordPad. Alternatively, you can input CJK with
AsianSuite X2.
- WordPad for Windows 98 requires the RichEdit 3.0 update to function like WordPad for
Windows ME.
- WordPad for Windows 95 supports European languages. Read how
you can type Cyrillic.
Switching Directions
Press Ctrl + right Shift to change the
direction of a paragrah from left-to-right to right-to-left, or press
Ctrl + left Shift to set it back to
left-to-right.
Inputting Unicode Characters
Type the four-digit hex code of a Unicode character and then press
Alt+X:
- Type 263a, press Alt+X, and you will get a
.
Shift+Alt+X typed after a Unicode character will
turn the character into its hex code.
